This man gets it. We always agree on Blackmore and DP. Not the case when it comes to Van Hagar but only time will tell if it can stand the test of time.

It is a matter of taste. For me DP has more "classic" tunes. Not to mention that I am more into deep cuts than anthems. The difference between these two cats is obvious and it starts already in the tone section - classic Gibson vs classic Fender sound.

I also love Lynch. Where is Nuno? You just saw him live a few months ago, and ranted and raved at how great he was in the Extreme thread.

Nuno would lose regardless. You know the majority here don't like that cat. Would you wanna see him get beat mercilessly?

That's a lie. There are tons of VH fans that like Nuno and Extreme. The Extreme thread was buzzing all summer when they released their new album Six.

    Where's that buzz now?

Gone with the wind and fleeting. Waited all those years. Came and went.

Wan't that thread like 3 guys gushing over everything they did? Didn't seem widespread to me.

Like in the case of Hendrix. I donít hate Jimi. I like a lot of his music. But I just would rather listen to Black Sabbath. Those songs just speak to me more, so I went with Iommi.

Honestly, all these guys are great players, so I donít think thereís a wrong choice in any of them. Except for Zakk Wylde. Iím sorry, I just canít call him a great player. I just donít see itÖor more importantly, hear it.
Exactly how I picked. I honestly am not a fan of Vai or Satch since I think they have shitty tone. Yeah I know its awesome :-) That said Satch is more memorable but Vai is an alien. I have listened to Black Sabbath far more than Jimi. I recognize Jimi but I also think that Tony influenced an entire genre of music. I know Jimi gets so much credit but if I listen to Metallica, there is not one ounce of Jimi until Kirk decides to go Full Hammet on his wah. Same with ANC. Same with Priest. Then Ozzy solo. So I go with Black Sabbath even though Rolling Stone would surely shoe me in the nuts

If its only technique than its just about speed. When I was 18 that mattered but there is so much more to it than that. Shit Eddie Van Halen is now considered to have the chops of Eric Clapton to new shredders. Gotta write songs too. Now I would pick Randy or Jake 100000000 times over Zakk regardless of songwriting but those guys riffs were interesting. Zakk is boring. Zakk era Ozzy IMO is boring. He can play but I much prefered his stuff with Pride and Glory than any of his other stuff. Now if there was a pinch harmonic competition, surely he would win

All that said I am sure Neil Young is better than all these cats

I think thatís quite a stretch to say that I complained about it. I probably commented that I was surprised.

Whatever this really isnít that big of a deal. I donít even know why weíre arguing over it.

Itís a silly fun poll put together by Coulda who didnít choose to Nuno on it. He didnít put about a million other guitarists on it either. You can start your own poll and put him on it YR. Nobody is stopping you.
