Eddie Trunk thinks differently so everybody will be ok.

Both or all three eras cannot be the same. I know people are afraid of offending people or what not but with every artist there are creative peaks. I don't care if you are EVH, Beethoven, Charlie Parker, Salvador Dali, Barshnikov, Michaeangelo, Leonardo De Vinci or Stephen King. Now it doesn't mean that CVH was definitely the better one. Art is subjective but on a consensus likely will be formed with when the person either made himself known and or was the shit.

It doesn't mean all their other work was terrible. No. Just that for a brief moment in time, there was peak creativity and ability. I know people will say "well he played keyboards..." Yeah stuff that Tony Banks would have thrown away in 1973. Keyboards doesn't equate genius. If so Tommy Lee would be a great musician because of Home Sweet Home. Bon Jovi wrote some genious material because hey they have David Bryan in the band using keys. Incredible songwriting there.

Nuno is established enough for him to voice his opinion. Its not like he is hanging around Dave. He knows Sammy so its all good

When I'm in a guitar playing mood, I'm about Dave Era. When I'm in the gym or reminiscing about college - I'm about Sammy Era. That's the easiest way I can describe it. When I'm tripping out on early 00s metal, I spin III.

    1) DLR VH = Guitarists music

    2) SH VH = More pop oriented / song writers music

    3) Any thing after = VH die hards music.

    ------

Nuno is a huge EVH fan and always has been.

Extreme has performed Mean Streets multiple times.

He always throws in Ed riffs. (Usually Eruption during parts of Am I Ever Gonna Change?) - though on the current tour he did it during their medley in 2 separate sections.

He threw in the HFT ending at the end of Get the Funk Out when I saw them in August.

When he came out alone for the encore, he played the intro to Women in Love & he's been doing it almost every show.

At my show in PA everyone was chanting "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie" when he did it, and Nuno made us chant it more - whereas anytime the crowd tried to chant "Nuno, Nuno, Nuno" throughout the whole show - he ignored it and it didn't chat on.

For heavens sake, he's got black, white & yellow tape on the 4N in honor of Ed.

There is an old video of Nuno, George Lynch & MA playing Somebody Get Me a Doctor - and Nuno puts Lynch to shame.
Nuno played HFT in the Beato interview and his EVH influence is apparent. (He knew HFT better than one of his own songs when requested in the interview)
As well as when the Atomic Punks pulled him onstage to play HFT.

Aside from Ed, Nuno attributes Brian May and Prince as some of his largest influences as individuals. Bands is another story with that guy.

Lynch and EVH were contemporaries... Lynch is more than 10 years older than Nuno (as well as 4months older than Eddie), he didn't grow up listening to Eddie and emulating him. So there's no question Nuno will sound more like Ed than George will. That said, nobody puts Lynch to shame. He has WAY more recorded output than Nuno, and his playing (in my opinion) is alot more varied and dynamic. Nuno is probably a better songwriter. They are both absolute monsters on electric guitar.. I know what you are trying to say, but it just sorta came out wrong (to me )

George is a true JEDI Master...

I'm not a fan of Nuno's. Sure the guy is talented, never could get past the first Extreme album.

Lynch and Nuno are both amazing guitar players. Nuno really impressed me when I saw Extreme on 8/24.

It's not just that Ed had better riffs in the first half of his career, it also has to do with the melodies that gave those riffs more room to breathe and stand on their own, often by singing in the gaps of the music instead of on top of it. After 5150, I found more and more of Sams melodies landed with the riffs

I actually prefer it to most of the other solos on that album.

And Dirty Movies is a great guitar song.

That album is like the Deep Cuts album.

There was a thread/discussion years ago about this very subject. Sam has even mentioned that sometimes it was hard for him to find space for his lyrics for what Edward was playing. It's the essence of why overall, I'm a Sam guy, but when it comes to the only two eras that matter to me, the Classic years stands far above the Sam era.

    Dave lyric's/melodies with Edwards music.

    Period.
