I am more of a wine guy and really into sweet stuff like Martini Asti, which is roughly in the 90-120 gms per litre range, right in the sweetness or residual sugar level vicinity of Coca-Cola.
I also like sweet versions of Lambrusco, like Lambrusco Amabile, so again alcohol with bubbles, though not that sweet. As for normal wines, I usually go with sweet or semi-sweet Riesling or "el cheapo" Liebfraumilch.
    Oh, and I like Sangria.

As for beer, I prefer Irish red ale like Kilkenny or Smithwicks. In the USA I used to drink George Killian's Irish Red, which is pretty much based on Irish beers.

Pizza Port "Swamis" is about the best "Bang for the Buck" West Coast IPA. 16oz cans in a 6 pack. Most other higher end craft breweries do 16oz can in 4 pack format, gets pricey $$. I also like the Pizza Port Rotating West Coast IPA series. https://www.pizzaport.com/grog/cans

Ballast Point is ok now. After they sold the brewery to a huge company (Modelo) in 2015, they expanded to fast, and everything changed for the worst. They were later sold again to a smaller group from Chicago in 2019 at a fraction of the price.

Now in 2023, I like Wayfinder out of Portland. Their Helles Lager is great. Also, their Cold IPAs.

Great Notion in Portland does the big Hazy IPAs and DIPAs. They also do several crazy smoothie sours and huge desert type Stouts. They even have a Great Notion location in California now in Sacramento.

But if you want to compare Hazy IPAs Oregon v California.... Nothing in Oregon can top Monkish (Torrance/Anaheim) or Green Cheek Anaheim.

You know your stuff. I'll get around to those comparisons.

Deschutes has always been solid but for me Ninkasi is where it's at here. Boneyard does ok, I've never been a huge fan of rogue (even though that's my old stomping ground).

Yeah, I probably know as much or more about beer as Van Halen or Hockey...lol...

We are about the same age, so I am sure you were also trying Ninkasi back in the late 2000s or early 2010s. I tried Total Domination IPA back in the early 2010s. I also liked Dawn of the Red. Sleigh'r was also a good one in winter.

But they have fallen a bit behind the times since the more localized craft brewers (that have weekly new releases) took over after 2017 with the Hazy IPAs. All the old big craft brewers like Sierra Nevada, Stone, Sam Adams, New Belgium, Duschutes, had to pivot and create their own mass produced Hazy, but often, it was subpar.

Boneyard was big for a minute back in 2011 when everyone was trying to push out big hopped up Double or Triple WC IPAs. But they have fallen back.

Never huge fan of Rogue. They were also big 2010-2013.

https://untappd.com/home is pretty good for checking out new breweries and new beers. Especially with so many breweries releasing new beers on a weekly or monthly basis.

If you like Hazy IPAs, you need to check out Great Notion in Portland. Not sure how they haven't found you yet, they have been marketing pretty big in Oregon, Washington and California. They have tap rooms in all 3 states. We are even getting great Notion in many bottle shops in California.

LMK on some of the other places you hit in Oregon.

Moonraker Brewer in Auburn, CA pretty much led the Hazy IPAs in NORCAL after 2016. They have since expanded to a 2nd location in Cameron Park.

Holy Hermit Hazy IPA. Big Citra and Amarillo hops.

On a hot day.... I like a light beer as well. PBR seems to have slightly more taste than Bud/Miller/Coors. Still an easy drinker. PBR is currently made in Milwaukee by Miller/Coors...lol...

Total Dom is and has been my consistent go-to for MANY moons. Tricerihops is next. Dawn of the red, not bad. Sleigh'r got a little high on the bitter scale for my taste.

Boneyard was big for a minute back in 2011 when everyone was trying to push out big hopped up Double or Triple WC IPAs. But they have fallen back.
Still pretty well positioned here (along with Deschutes) as the concert beers.

Oh Great notion is great! I've been to one of their tap rooms. I geeked out and was "that guy" doing the little sampler deals. I might go there for my birthday later this month too. Love that place.

10 barrel has treated me right, and I've enjoyed Von Ebert Brewing, Wayfinder, Upright Brewing, Steeplejack and Ruse Brewing to name a few.

Believe it or not, my all time favorite is from Widmer though. They made a brewmaster seasonal special back in 2007 that haunts me to this day. It was my perfect beer and they stopped making it. I've even written them emails begging to have it back in circulation at some point (I know they still have the recipe).

Pabst Blue Ribbon! Damn, I haven't had one of those literally since the 70s when I was still underage. Good times!
