The Edge is the absolute king of delay and dual digital delays and Daniel Lanois is one of the greatest artist/producers that has ever lived. The new Boss SDD-3000D and the SDD3000EVH are an incredible bargain with unique and easy to use routing options that are a big improvement over using two separate vintage SDE3000s. I can’t believe these things are priced so low.
Some good points to consider also Al....

There's a great thread on The Gear Page all about this pedal.

If you're running a Stereo rig then you're probably fine with a DD-500 or a Time Factor. But if you're running WDW you're going to want an Analog Dry Through path, which the SDE-3000EVH has while the Time Factor does not and the DD-500 does not in the A+B mode required for SDE-3000 style dual delays. Without the Analog Dry Through you'll get phase issues that could range from subtle to fairly noticeable.

That's exactly why I bought the Suhr ISO box for when I run WDW with the DD500; it's got a phase switch and if I'm remember correctly the deep patch edits in the DD500 allow you to reverse the phase as well.

I honestly can't see myself getting it unless I did more studio work or had a studio where people came in and needed to use gear.

That being said; it is hella cool.

Based on what Thorn was saying; it sounds like if you have the EVH Drive - you could turn this thing into your own little MacGuyver DI for recording without an amp.

What led you to that? The Boss pedal doesn't have any sort of amp or IR simulation. The EVH overdrive pedal is really effective for direct rigs though - I used to use it direct into Logic's amp sims or with an amp sim pedal (like the Tech 21 ones) prior to getting my HX Stomp.

That's my thought - Thorn mentioned using a loop to put pedals through before the delays - then run them DI to what ever you're using with nothing more than an amp or cabinet modeler and you're golden or pretty close to it.

On top of that - you could simulate the 3 cab setup that way digitally if you're handy with your recording gear.
