I love the routing options and Pete's demo makes its sound great.

But the SDE-3000 algorithm is in the smaller, half priced DD-500.

So who’s got the delay times in ms for the EVH presets?!

I’m guessing one of them is 398 / 798, and the short mono one (Preset 4) is around 300ms.

I REALLY do not like how the "EVH presets" are black box, parameter obfuscated.

I sold my DD-500 almost a year ago, so I didn't have the opportunity to test it out...

But apparently the SDE-3000 algorithm is not available in a dual delay format in the DD-500. That means to do the EVH thing properly you'd need two of them.

So the SDE-3000EVH offers 2x that algorithm for 1.5x the price of a DD-500...plus great routing and filtering options.

The Women in Love SDE-3000 setting per Chris Gill:

Left unit Time: 360ms, Feedback: 20, Output: 60, both Mods 00
Right unit Time: 720ms, Feedback: 20, Output: 60, both Mods 00

So if I was guessing the 4 EVH presets are:

1) 398/798 (pronounced delay effect)
2) 360/720 (Women in Love)
3) 250/500 (FUCK/Balance era always on)
4) ~300ms (CVH style)

According to Dave Friedman this is an improved SDE-3000 algorithm. And the DD-500 doesn't have the routing (dry out) options of the EVH.

I was plenty happy with my DD-500 when I had it though.

I would like to know how this unit will outperform (Eddies Balance / FUCK era settings) my Eventide Time Factor that I run now in my W/D/W rig. I have the ping pong (dont recall the exact settings off hand) delays exactly like Ed's rig during Balance and have it dialed in exactly how I want it.
My question is, is getting this SDE 3000 EVH unit worth getting for a better sound and will it outperform my Time Factor in the Balance era sound or in my case will it just be a really cool EVH item to have? Interested to hear folks thoughts on this and thank you,

The Balance/FUCK era sounds have 2 major components. The split ping pong delays which in my opinion, your timefactor will cover well enough. At least in my opinion, not enough to justify $700US for the sde-3000evh. The 2nd component is the eventide micropitch (-9/+9 cents) that he used to on the left and right wet signals (before the delays). He used H3000 harmonizers (big $$$) but you can get the micropitch algorithm in the pitchfactor/h9/h910/micropitch pedals as well (in addition to the h910 h949 algorithms if you want to get your early evh harmonized tones)

Eddie and nearly everyone else who tried the two Roland SDE3000s as dual delays in the 80s stayed with them because of their unique modulation. The Edge and Daniel Lanois started using them in 1984 and they still use them to this very day. Let that sink in. The Edge is the absolute king of delay and dual digital delays and Daniel Lanois is one of the greatest artist/producers that has ever lived. The new Boss SDD-3000D and the SDD3000EVH are an incredible bargain with unique and easy to use routing options that are a big improvement over using two separate vintage SDE3000s. I can’t believe these things are priced so low.

Yes I also have the Eventide pitch factor and it's set to Micro pitch -9 on the left and +9 on the right and again.... the sound I get is phenomenal so Im not sure how I could make it any better with the SDE 3000
