Even Thomas Jefferson had to deal with that - the constant barrage of lies by the news media to try to disrupt his Presidency.

If people can’t be bothered to be informed, then we lose it alll. Too many have been accustomed now to be spoon fed how to think. Critical thinking is out the window. It only gets worse with open borders. More people who have no clue about or allegiance to our country.

Yes, but so many people "choose" what media institutions align with their personal beliefs--Jefferson didn't have so many different outlets out there as there are now.

People watching Fox News or MSNBC are not getting the whole story, only a slanted report. That's certainly not beneficial. There is some justification to Trump calling out various institutions, but then he only chooses to align himself to ones that aren't so critical of him, even if the reporting is true, it becomes "fake news."

If a fact-checker points out that a candidate was lying, only half the people (supporters of the opponent) will believe it.

So, us being the fact-checkers, is also difficult to digest. People "doing their own research" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The point still stands, though. It’s up to people to be informed and if they only watch one source that’s on them. There’s nothing you can do about it. The big three stopped being independent (for the most part) a long time ago. We have access to many sources of info, not just American either.

In a nutshell it comes down to the individual. You either critically think or you don’t.

Kamala Harris Refuses Fox News Sept. 4 Debate with Donald Trump in Pennsylvania

Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday refused to debate former President Donald Trump September 4 on Fox News, demanding the debate take place September 10 on ABC News.

Political insiders perceive ABC News as an ally of the Democrat party, although Fox News has not generally been pro-Trump, especially since Paul Ryan, former speaker of the House, became a member of the Fox Corporation Board of Directors.

“Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out. He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept 10,” Harris campaign communications director Michael Tyler told Newsweek.

“The Vice President will be there one way or the other to take the opportunity to speak to a prime time national audience. We’re happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to. Mr. Anytime, anywhere, anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th,” he added.

Late Friday, Trump said he agreed to debate Harris on Fox News on September 4. “The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant,” he posted on Truth Social.

“The FoxNews Debate will be held in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at a site in an area to be determined,” he continued. “The Moderators of the Debate will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and the Rules will be similar to the Rules of my Debate with Sleepy Joe, who has been treated horribly by his Party – BUT WITH A FULL ARENA AUDIENCE!”

President Joe Biden and Trump previously agreed to debate on September 10, but after Biden dropped out of the race, Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communications director, said on July 25 the event was scuttled.

“[It] would be inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds,” he said at the time.

Why don't they just pick a neutral spot--if one exists--no audience and stick to the issues? How about a compromise--the Fox moderators with no audience?
