Default Amazing cover of Can't Get Loose

This is a very underrated Sammy song, that he should play more often. This cover might be as good or better than the original, it really rocks:

Sure he couldn't sing it as good as Sam - who can - but these guys made a new arrangement that actually makes the song better. And the song is actually improved at this faster tempo. Sammy needs to hear this and add it to the set!

    Enjoyed this cover!

Standing Hampton got a LOT of airplay on Detroit rock radio in the early-mid 80s and Can't Get Loose received as many plays as One Way To Rock, Heavy Metal, and I'll Fall in Love Again. It's strange to me that classic rock formats have forgotten about this song completely while those other tunes still manage to get some spins. I don't think I've heard Can't Get Loose on any radio station since the late 80s.

I love Can't Get Loose. I think all of side 1 of Standing Hampton is incredible, it's amazing what an A&R guy like John Kalodner did for Sammy and so many other bands in the 80s.

Not that I can recall. I like that tune too. I do remember the "Piece of My Heart" Janis Joplin cover getting some radio rotation, but nearly as much attention as One Way, I'll Fall In Love, Can't Get Loose & Heavy Metal received.

I was really young, but I don't remember Sammy getting much (if any) radio attention in Detroit prior to Standing Hampton. He did really well in Detroit after Standing Hampton but it wasn't a market like St Louis or Houston where he was getting far more airplay during the Capitol years. He came through town a lot opening for Foreigner & Boston a lot. It's interesting to me how regional everything was back then when it came to artists breaking through

I couldn't get past they spelled Sammy Hagar wrong, before even getting to the song.

I remember Can't get loose getting airplay in Detroit. WLLZ aired a concert live during the VOA tour (it's out there on youtube and it's awesome). Detroit radio, even today gives Sam a lot of love. Montrose, Solo and VH get a lot of love here

Yeah I saw him in '13 there on a mini-tour supporting a minor album, Sammy Hagar & Friends. Was at the big amphitheater with a pretty decent crowd.

St. Louie in '03 same scenario (Live Hallelujah mini-tour) but even more people. Well Mike and Montrose were there, too, and we all know St. Louis adores their Redrocker.

I'm sad to say I think he's mad at my city, Pittsburgh. He came for Marching to Mars and Red Voodoo, but skipped us for Ten 13. Outside of VH as always, he's only been here since then three time: Heavyweight Champs of Rock 'N' Roll, Livin' It Up/Other Half, and Space Between. The first Chickenfoot tour was scheduled but cancelled, and their second tour I had to drive to, once again, Detroit. Saw Roth there 3x and Gary once on a side note.

Sam gets a decent following here, but I guess not decent enough. Please forgive us, Sammy! And we didn't ask you to come the same night the Pirates were hosting the All-Star game in '06!

Somebody sells that VOA / Detroit concert on Amazon. I bought the CD a couple years ago. I think it's called Sammy Hagar Live in the Motor City (some call in "Cobo Wabo"). Basically it's just the WLLZ simulcast of the whole concert minus the commercials. Some Amazon ratings rip on the sound quality of the recording, but I think it's pretty good. The setlist is awesome - A lot of songs that usually don't make the cut live - Swept Away, Trans Am, This Planet's On Fire, Baby's on Fire, Girl Gets Around, even Dick in the Dirt. It's a shame they don't have any video from the VOA tour (that I know of) like they do from that MTV concert 3 Lock Box Tour (from the St Louis Checkerdome). Crazy Red Rocker energy at those concerts

Not one video of his biggest year (the year he matched Van Halen in popularity, heh) except the three songs from Farm Aid. Unreal.

At least EEAS has some audience-shots.

and we only even got the 3 Lock Box and HSAS concerts due to MTV approaching Leffler about doing them. But that '83-'84 era was still a couple years away from when it became standard issue for bands to release their concerts themselves for the VHS market. Remember those days... A band like RATT, Crue, or Scorpions (or any of those bands) would

    record an album in January
release the album in March and have 3 MTV singles out by May
tour the album all summer in sheds
release a VHS tape of their MTV videos from said album or VHS tape of concert from said tour just in time for Christmas
repeat the process the following January

It was like clockwork. I miss those days
