Pantera
Anybody dig these dudes?
I just got a CD Burner and I burned a CD with a couple of their tunes on there. I don't care for some of their "fast stuff", but some of the chunky slow riffs are killer.
On the one disc, it's goes from Pantera'a "I'm Broken" to Living Color's "Type" off of Times Up. Man oh man, Pantera has just got such a big sound to them. It makes most of the other stuff on there sound like it was recorded in freaking mono!!!!!!!
I'm not a metal fan at all. I hate Ozzy, Maiden,..........but Pantera just does it for me. Anybody else agree or disagree?

Pantera always holds a spot in the ol' CD player n' shit. I go back to "cemtery gates" but it's to "butrocker", I'd go back to Vulgar cause that's when my eyes first opened to them, and I would go all inbetween all their alblums in the middle like "great southern trendkill" which is probobly the hardest album they have. Sheer strength when it comes to that band.
I also think there the best "live" metal band out there today, man you just can't go wrong with this alblum cause when they play "live" it's note for note, each song and each time. I would recomend that cause it showcases all their alblums prior to their latest effort. BTW the new alblum is rockin' just like track5(btw if t5 is reading this notice that i pointed you out cause of your stellar name) "What is my name" which is the toughest chunky powerchord driven song they have!

Hey...not a huge fan or anything but if I need to lift some heavy stuff, Live 101 Proof usually makes its way to the CD player....and yes, Walk fucking rocks.

Achievements:
Pantera just doesn't do it for me. I don't own one album of theirs. I do like some of their songs every now and then though.
For some strange reason though, I really like Phil's side group with Pepper from COC.
Down's "Nola" is a great album in my opinion.

Goddamn I've been waiting for some Pantera fans to join the board. Anyone going to the San Jose, CA show? Eyes of the Night, the song you are referring to is "Revolution is my Name" and its just been nominated for a grammy.
Jimmy, if you like their slower chunkier stuff best, then you need to check out Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven for sure. If you're not that much of a metal fan the albums Cowboys from Hell and Reinventing the Steel shouldn't be your first choice. And Finally, If your brave son, check out The Great Southern Trendkill: I recommend you get this album only if you are prepared for the most intensley heavy larnyx ripping finger breaking album of all time.
Pantera makes Metallica sound like Deep Purple (nothing against DP).

Their only album I really like is "Vulgar Display Of Power," that album is brilliant. There other stuff, I can take or leave, but stuff like "Cemetary Gates" and "I'm Broken" are very cool. Plus that cover of The Nuge's "Cat Scratch Fever" might be better than the original, I downloaded it from Napster for a compilation CD I made.

I thinnk the main reason I have always liked Pantera is because I think DD sounds very influenced by EVH in his phrasing and solo tecnique. He just stepped it up a notch since he's in metal mode n shit.
