Chinese "Weather" Balloon Blew Past My House

We all saw the balloon, and the local Sheriff's advised that no one shoot at it.

Locally, people got whipped up into a frenzy.

My question: how in the hell did the thing float well into the Country, unabated? That "we can't shoot it down, lest it fall on someone's house," doesn't wash: the trajectory of the thing flew over mountainous, and rural, terrain.

How did the slow moving aircraft enter well into our airspace, unabated?

That's pretty wild you saw it! They shot it down over the ocean. They will be collecting the debris now.

Everyone thought it was the moon, including myself.

When I got inside the house, and looked online, local FB pages were awash with "Chinese spy balloon" news.

Of course there are no answers to any of our questions; NC Senator Tillis is quite upset.

It also happened 3 times during the Trump admin. This is the first reported during Biden's. I'm wondering, like all of us are, what they're collecting. Seems they're now pissed at us for shooting it down.

Matthis knew about them, but he didn't advise Trump of their existence.

As I said in the other thread, I asked around today, and this actually happens a lot more than you think. The weird part is us shooting it down.

Personally I’d be far more worried about the human assets China has within our industrial/military/congressional/security complex and research labs than anything they can view from a balloon.....But your mileage may vary....

I'd bet your response would be different if this had been an issue during Trump. Yeah yeah it happened, but not across the country as this last one and above important military bases...difference between your mileage and mine is I take the faster route...

I wouldn't feel any different had it happened under Trump.....Balloons don't scare me. Humans, however, well they're a different animal altogether.....And faster isn't always better.....

Had that with Feinstein and Swalwell and not much of anything came about it.
