No obvious cameras other than for the big screen - is that what they were going to use for the DVD?

Also Ed had his monitor and pedal board in the centre of the stage - not sure if that was ever explained.

I thought it was because he wanted to hear Alex better or some weird thing.

Ah, the real reason. Not the obvious nonsensical bullshit one he gave before of "why would someone want to watch something they just saw?"

At least this makes sense, because he was not 100% on that tour. Maybe we'll get a song or two from the show mixed in with other live songs from other tours where he's playing better in some kind of comp-i-lation for the inevitable box set.

What Darrin said, came out in one of the multitude of interviews over the years, but I can't remember which one, and I really don't have the inclination to look. They will probably never release it, so it doesn't matter.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I think Ed might have referred to it indirectly in his interview he did alongside Tony Iommi, but that is based upon my sometimes shoddy memory. And then different parts leaked out over multiple interviews with multiple people.

The double multi-quote was not intentional.

He had wrist surgery the following year so I get why he may feel not at his best but it was still a great show.

Ok this latest episode was great. I really love when Dave talks like this and it's great to see him give some actual respect to Mike and Al in here. It seems like it's been years since one of those guys actually mentioned Mike by name. I'm sure that's not entirely true but clearly Dave can see how important he was to the overall sound of the OG VH. I love hearing this kind of stuff. I also respect Dave for bringing such outside musical influence to the band. If VH had just tried to follow the musical formula of a band like Black Sabbath, they never would have had such a great vibe to their sound. I think Dave knew how to balance the hard rock sound with his influences and he also knew that he had the best musicians going for him that could handle anything thrown their way. That is something I really give Dave respect for.

I guess little tidbits like this is the closest we are going to get to an EVH tribute show.

Can you imagine Dave trying to talk to Eddie about his ideas?? My God, talk about two different sides of the solar system.

Yet, something about those two mixing brain matter just clicked. Out of the brimstone and fire came music that changed the world.

    Awesome stuff.
