So Sam can't shut the hell up about VH, and Satch can't, either? lol

And as far as Mike being interested, or Al wanting to work with him...pretty sure it was Al that called Mike in the first place, wasn't it? And had a 3-way call with Mike and DLR? Pretty sure I remember Mike saying that. Al and Mike are cool.

I think Al and Sam are the holdup. Possibly Dave and Sam, too. Although I would think for a big tribute show even Dave would realize the Sam years must be represented.

I think Newsted was called to see if he wanted to join a current ongoing line up of AVH, DLR, and then find a guitarist to play EVH.

Why would Newsted be so against playing a one off show for a tribute ? He implied it was a tour and beyond I imagine.

He declined and then MA was called.

Now that I think about it, Dave's response about how at their age they would all need backups like Tommy Lee for Al etc....

Was that Dave doing damage control? Maybe Dave isn't the one holding anything up here and this is all between Al and Wolf?

He also mentioned P!nk in that conversation, I think it was damage control by way of Dave's typical over speaking.

I don't see why they'd even consider Newsted. Nothing wrong with him, anyone can play VH bass lines, but he can't remotely sing the backing vocals.

I'd think they would at least want the backing vocals to be somewhat quality...and who's going to sing Ed's part of those? Satch? Does he ever sing?

They’re not trying to recreate Van Halen’s sound, it’s a tribute show.

Dude had to go through James and Lars, thought he'd seen it all.

But after a few phone calls with the VH guys, dude is shell shocked, all curled up in a ball, in a foetal position. Won't leave his room. They run a tough racket, these VH guys.
