How about Kathy Bates in "At Play in the Fields of the Lord" That was damn hot.....

Seriously she is up there. Never understood the Gal thing. I mean she is attractive but her acting is so bad she reminds me of the girl in Blame it on Rio. God she was a smoke show for an 80s teen.

2 things are happening with Disney ( and a lot of other studios, but particularly at Disney) 1 pandemic creative doldrums are now starting to rear their head, and 2 The need to keep seeding the streaming platforms

People aren't even going to the theater for good films. Disney hasn't had a really great year since the pandemic. They had a lot of trouble with the creative teams working from home, that made things a trifle difficult, and then they needed to really ramp up production in order to keep feeding the monsters that are Hulu and Disney+ They need new content on a regular basis.

So they rushed a lot of things thru when they were still trying to figure out how to operate under covid issues and working at home The long term impact? Every film coming from Disney in 2025 will be a sequel or an adaptation ...Freakier Friday, Tron 2, Zootopia 2 you get the drift. Not a lot of real creative work being done to create the NEXT property that can be given the sequel treatment, or become a long running franchise

They have some things this year and next that they are really hopeful about...Freakier Friday for one, and next year they have another Toy Story and then Frozen 3 after that.

But nothing is really going to change at the theaters much as long as they are rushing to put out streaming content

I'm not sure it's true Disney hasn't had a good year at the box office since the pandemic.

    Since 2022 they have had Inside Out 2 ($1.7B worldwide), Deadpool and Woverine ($1.3B), Moana 2 ($1.1B), Mufasa ($700M), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($850M), Avatar 2 ($2.3B), Black Panther 2 ($860M), Dr. Strange 2 ($1.1B), Thor 3 ($760M), Spider-Man 3 ($1.9B), all in the top 20.

Sure, things like Indiana Jones 5 and Snow White hurt the bottom line, but they have definitely had success post-COVID.

I enjoyed the first Avatar...it was so unique / visually amazing / 3D. The 11-ish year wait for the sequel waned my interest. I saw it on a plane - was fine, but I've only ever seen it one time. I doubt I'll got to the follow ups.

Cameron makes (generally) a great product; True Lies, T1/T2, Aliens, etc etc etc...but he's been too focused on this property for too long w/ too much left to do...I doubt we'll ever see anything from him again other than Avatar...that's a shame.
Winners come and go; legends are forever.

'Snow White' Producer’s Son Says 'Immature' Rachel Zegler Injecting ‘Personal Politics’ 'Clearly Hurt the Film'

    Jerome Hudson 27 Mar 2025

An Instagram user called Marc Platt’s reported cross-country face-to-face with Zegler “creepy as hell.” This prompted Jonah, who’s starred in Netflix’s Uncoupled and Amazon Studios’ Being the Ricardos, to defend his father in now deleted Instagram response.

    IMG_2633.jpg

“You really want to do this? Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20 year old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for,” Jonah Platt wrote.

“This is called adult responsibility and accountability. And her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office. Free speech does not mean you’re allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions,” he continued.

“Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged,” Jonah Platt’s post concluded.

Variety claims Zegler agreed to work with Disney-approved flacks who would approve Zegler’s Snow White social media posts. Months laters, the West Side Story star made headlines around the world when she said those who voted for President Donald Trump are part of a “deep, deep sickness in this country” and she wished that they “never know peace.”

Disney opened wide last week to worse than projected numbers, $43 million domestically and a disasterous $87 million worldwide.

Avatar 3 comes out later this year. I don't understand how the sequel did so well, but I'm sure the next one will do similar numbers...as long as none of the cast or crew make any controversial statements. lol

The first one was "Dances with Wolves in Space", had no interest in the 2nd one.

And just as an aside, has there even been lazier writing than naming a mineral ore that is hard to excavate "unobtainium"?

The Cameron that created everything from Terminator to True Lies is gone. Titanic is technically a well made movie in many ways, but it's so predictable and Cameron post Terminator just grew to write more and more generic dialogue. True Lies being the exception.

Not that True Lies writing is award winning stuff, but James writing became so safe and predictable. There is a lot of shit in True Lies that would be allowed in movies today. It isn't a very Politically Correct film. It was the last bit of edge that Cameron has allowed into his movies. He is so boring now.

With Titanic I'm just like "Ok, just get to the boat sinking!"

I know that might sound very short attention like, but very little of the drama and build up before then is interesting. You can't even start the movie with the sense of dread of what is to come because the film just wallows in this boring love story that plays out in the most predictable way possible. There is no interesting parts in terms of storytelling.

John Boyega goes after Star Wars fans:

    https://ew.com/john-boyega-mocks-rac...-fans-11704825

Do these people not understand that this shit doesn't go over well? I'm personally not a SW fan, but this mentality Hollywood has of trashing fans because they can't do a good enough job of entertaining people.

These actors especially. These people want all the money, all the creative control, all the funding for the movies and the ability to lash out at people, while they seemingly expecting none of the pitfalls.

All most of these people do is play pretend for a living. They don't fund their own films, they don't write their own films They don't do anything but play pretend infront of the camera. Yet, so many act so entitled.

Honestly, I'm never going back to the theater unless I get gifted tickets or something. Which is the only reason I saw Maverick at the movies.

His character sucked. Just like Rey. Just like Poe. Just like Rose. Just like Ben Solo. Only good part of the sequels were the actors from the original trilogy. Has nothing to do with race or sex. Terrible characters don't care about race or sex. White, Black, Asian, man, woman or anything in between.

Even the villians sucked ass. Just go away. Be thankful you got to display your acting chops in a franchise like SW. Granted it pretty consisted of breathing heavy and sweating but you got your money.
