NBA 2022-23 Season Thread

Lonzo Ball is having surgery on his knee that will take him out of most, if not all of the 23-24 season, per Shams. This is his 3rd surgery in just over a year and there is optimism it will restart his career.

I remember when the narrative was that the Lakers didn't have enough to get Anthony Davis and then once they traded Ball, Ingram, Hart, and 3 firsts, the narrative became they overpaid.

Feel bad for Ball, but if we think Davis is "street clothes," well...

As good as the Lakers have been, last night was a reminder of how important Davis is to the team. Not sure I agree with a blanket no back to back rule, as Houston was supposed to be a gimme. Even restricted minutes would have been helpful. Oh well. The painted themselves into this corner.

Bulls are screwed no one will trade for Lonzo Ball. Ok player when healthy. The bright side for Bulls is he's only 25 but on a 4 year deal so it was not worth it for them. Maybe you get one healthy season.

My understanding is the players are pressured by the team to sit. Nate Jones, who works for an agency and is partnered with Dame and who does some analysis says, “New age quant-based medical staffs and advisors now control the NBA,” and they tell the players to sit. He said this on Twitter.

Both Seth Partnow, Director of Basketball Research for the Milwaukee Bucks, and John Hollinger replied they’d been in the room when it happens and that’s exactly what it is. They both say it isn’t the players, but the trainers and the teams.
