Better than talking about the Warriors.

The entire league is pretty weak this year frankly. The Lakers are no worse than anybody else. And they’ve actually played pretty well the last month without Davis. So go figure.

Lakers made a trade that’s a pretty good gamble, I think. Three seconds is a tad steep, but they give up those and Nunn for Rui Hachimura who fills a position they need.

Basically lottery talent who will be a RFA for not a whole lot. Lots of potential upside for nearly nothing.

Looks like he could be some solid scoring off the bench. Woj was also indicating LA will try to sign him in the summer (RFA)

Dallas and Sacramento were also rumored to be looking at Hachimura. This was more of a salary clearing move for Washington it looks like....

A name only Lakers fans will remember but, last August, Slava Medvedenko sold his 2001 and 2002 championship rings for a total of about $250,000, and he donated it all to Ukraine’s war effort.

Tonight, Jeannie Bus replaced those rings for Slava.

He was a rookie in 2000-2001 and mostly played about 10 minutes a game or less except in the 2003-2004 season, when Malone got hurt.

The second quarter killed LA.

But this game was a great illustration why they made the trade they did. Especially without Davis, they simply could not match up against the Clippers.

Davis, who is supposed to return tonight against the Spurs, and Hachimura should make things easier for Lebron. And Walker IV is actually good, so missing him has been big.

Westbrook embracing his 6th man role is a big reason the Lakers could play .500 ball while Davis was out, Lebron missed some, and Reeves and Walker IV have been out. At the same time, when push comes to shove, playoff ball, he is going to be a giant net negative. He makes all kinds of questionable decisions. Last night he was launching 3s and leaving Clipper shooters wide open, not to mention ill-advised drives. And teams will leave him wide open and dare him to shoot in crunch time.

I truly believe the team can compete with how Davis and Lebron have been playing this year, but only if they are able to get bigs who can shoot and play D and put them around the core. Maybe closer to the deadline they can pull of a miracle for Westbrook, but I would take big time role players who fit nicely around the core. I would even be willing to move Walker IV with Westbrook if it meant it.
