Autographed Van Halen I Album

I have a VHI album that has Edward's autograph on it (I have a certificate of authentication). How much do you guys think that is worth?

Not that I am thinking of selling it, just curious.

Invest a little bit in a nice frame and matboard, throw in a nice pic of Ed and I'm sure it'll get you more than being in a simple black frame.

I have VH1 and Diver Down signed by the whole band - saw one (VH1) on Julien's Auctions for over $3k and you can also buy one here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195005100...BoCJgIQAvD_BwE

I think the $800 is a good shout for it just being signed by Ed. Possibly even more now as you can get the other signatures, but you certainly can't get Ed's.

I would say you can ask for 800 but you likely will get someting lower unless you run into a person who has to have it. Now if you sold it a few months after Eddie had passed, you would have gotten more. I assume when Alex or Dave pass, it will jump in price again.

A number of years ago I bid on a silent auction for a signed Diver Down album by the whole band (including certificate of authenticity). My wife basically forced me to be the opening bid, saying that if I didn't I would regret it. Sure enough, I was the only bid so I won by default. I think I paid $200 at the time and this would have been around 2013 or so.

I'm sure VH 1 is worth more than Diver Down, though.

I would guess maybe $500-600 is what you could expect to get.

Don't forget the.... "Look, I've gotta get it framed and it's gonna take up space on the wall..." Reason to low-ball the guy.

Then the autograph guy will come down... Get out his tablet and compare it with known examples... The tension builds, then he finally says,"Ok, yeah, ok.. this signature is live".

Autographs mean so little to me unless they are signed by them specifically for me. Not that I wouldn't want an Eddie one now that he is no longer with us, but it would be hard to spend more than $100 even if it's guaranteed to be legit. I have only Sammy's and Gary's for now. Meeting them, shaking their hand, taking a picture together, and being besties calling each other twice a week is what's most important to me. But to each their own.
