Yeah I heard about it once before, but didn't know it was a cover/sea shanty although I now realize with that song title I have heard it before:

That would've been weird anyway since they already have "Could This Be Magic?" Why do that when you already wrote an ORIGINAL that is is just as catchy as the most popular other sea shanties "What Can You Do with a Drunken Sailor" or Disney's "Yo Ho a Pirate's Life for Me?!"

That's definitely a Dave project, not an Eddie thing.

Definitely a "Women and Children First" acoustic vibe.

I loved when DLR went back to older songs like this... it really set VH apart with depth and humor lacking in other rock bands of the time. Plenty of space on an album for all.

Dave: "So guys, hear me out, why don't we do an actual pirate song on the new record?!?! After all, we're the ultimate rock'n'roll pirates, the electric bucaneers, bozzity bozzity bop? This one is called "Blow The Man Down!"

Plays the song on his boombox.

"So whacha fellows thinking? Are you ready to sail the Seven Seas with Captain Diamond Dave?!??"

Dead silence from the band.

Ed: "That won't fit the vibe of the new record. Dave, you gotta allow yourself to FEEL. Enough of the "Happy Trails" shit. We're going to be a modern band, my brown sound is also going to be with some keyboards. Let me play you my new tune."

Plays the music of "I'll Wait."

Dave, perplexed: "Wawazat?!?! I got nothing."

Ed frowns.

Ted Templeman: "No worries, I got Michael McDonald on speed dial."
