Very interesting concept, but there is absolutely nothing about those rankings that makes any sense at all, for any age groups. It's so weird, I don't know where they're getting that.

The Top 10 is somewhat reasonable but everything after is just nuts. More people heard of Jon Bon Jovi than "Bon Jovi?" And the Stones? Not that I'm a fan, but U2 is #149 and Nirvana #127? And like you said about Billie Eilish? I'm surprised Chip Z'Nuff (not Enuff Z'Nuff--just Chip) isn't on there above Streisand. But still below Bertie Higgins, of course.

But hey, our boy (and boys) beat The Who and the Eagles. No DLR or Sammy though.

End of story. You either agree with that or you don't because Patton or Robinson don't have one.
Agreed, long overdue. Probably need a major online campaign to force their hand. Bunch of wussies.

That's partly Van Halen's doing: they became a retro act, and to the younger generations, they became irrelevant. Anecdotally, a lot of mainstream fans lost interest in the band - at least the ones who I came across - for the reason I stated.

Part of the lack of relevancy may have been due to Ed's health, yet I think somewhere along the way, he lost interest. I remember in the late 80's, the Stone's came back from the dead, with Steel Wheels. Aerosmith came back with Janie's Got A Gun. Granted, rock was still popular at the time, but both were aging bands which brought themselves back, yet Van Halen did nothing to remain relevant.

As for Billie Ellish, she's current, has some talent, and, aside from her zombie eyes, she's attractive.

Ok y'all. How stupid of me to think the GOAT deserves more from his hometown and if your kids barely know who EVH is after all these years on a VH forum...you failed as a parent.

    That's hilarious.

Case in point, Cobra Kai. Don't tell me Johnny Lawrence is not a MASSIVE Van Halen fan. He definitely got into fights in high school over the Sammy/Dave debate (imagine the dialog "What?!?!? You've never heard Eruption?? Hawk, hit the ground and give me 20!").

But I'm sure the VH camp didn't allow VH songs to be used on the show (I can almost hear them, "what, a youtube show about karate, are you kidding?). Huge mistake, once again. The fact that VH doesn't tour anymore doesn't mean the music couldn't be all over the streamers, in movies, etc. The band's strategy needs to improve.

I read somewhere they tried to get AC/DC Thunderstruck for a scene but could not afford the rights. So VH might have turned them down or they couldn’t afford it.

It doesn't make any sense. Al and Ed signed a deal with Atlas Music Publishing in 2015 with the purpose of getting their music back out there. The CEO said: "We will help ensure that new generations of music listeners are keenly aware of just how important Van Halen is to the music world.”

So they say. Cobra Kai came out three years later. I doubt they downplayed it being just a youtube show -- in the third episode of season one Johnny Lawrence had an exclusive VH shirt that supposedly was ordered from the VH store just for the show. And then when the show got super popular, nothing? So did they price Netflix out like AC/DC did?

I feel like there used to be a lot of VH songs in movies *before* 2015. Its almost like Atlas was like signing Scott Boras, so he could come in make sure if a VH song is used, they get PAID (while claiming it's for other reasons) Since then, only WB could afford a song for Ready Player One with their $175m budget.

Glad I'm not the only one that doesn't know what is up with Eilish's eyes!

As for Aerosmith - they were only a 16 year old band at the time of Pump! I know it seems longer but... So that's Balance for Van Halen with Sammy Hagar. Now the Stones were at 25 with Steel Wheels, so that's where our lads came up with "Up For Breakfast" and of course the Stones kept on rollin' after Steel Wheels (whether folks like the output or not) with 4 additional studio albums, innumerous compilations and live albums and still regularly touring, while we got one last great album (and a live disc) and what, 3 tours(?) from Van Halen after Best Of Both Worlds.

"Just Like Paradise" was supposed to be the original intro song for Beverly Hills 90210. Either Roth or FOX changed their minds at the last minute. Too bad. Would have made a great teen drama even BETTER! I believe the theme song was then written by Jeff Skunk Baxter who was told to make the melody similar. Can't remember where I read all that, but it's not something I could come up with on my own...

Now, I don’t view it as a competition. I’m not trying to say that Ed wasn’t/isn’t the greatest rock guitar player of all-time. But he wasn’t and is not as relevant as some here seem to think he was/is.
