Default Noel Monk DOES have pro shot CVH video

    Cool Development...

According to this massive CVH collector, Steve Emerson, who spent time at Noel Monk's house in Colorado Springs, and actually viewed Noel's personal video collection about 6 years ago, MULTIPLE shows of pro-shot CVH video do indeed exist. He said Noel himself personally financed the filmings at the time. And even stuff from 1980.

He also said the Oakland stuff is 100% only the 3 songs.

(Steve was the person who helped Noel organize his recent memorabilia auction)

1:27:30 mark from a recent JB Network show:

Noel is a weird guy. I'm having trouble getting excited over this though, as I'm sure contractually this would need the band, labels, etc being involved to actually release. Our best hope is probably for it to just get leaked.

I also wonder how much of this OVERLAPS with the Pro shot Footage that we know VH and WB have at the Pacific Titles Vault. Does Noel Monk actually just have copies of the WB material?

    VHS
    7/28/81 - Cap Centre, Largo

    81 - Nashville

    7/16/82 - Greensboro

    3/25/84 - Cap Center Largo (Part 1 and 2)

    3/4" tape

    10/12/82 - Cap Centre Largo
    10/11/82 - Cap Centre Largo

US Fest 83 - RWTD, PW, YRGW, HT

US Fest 83 - With Time Code

2 Bad Cassettes (Where?) - Yes it is actually labeled like that....lol...

Beta Tapes - 14 full tapes with no dates listed..... lol!!! the also duplicated all of these to 3/4".

Telecine 1" and 3/4" - Castle Donnington 1984. Expo Hall in Osaka Japan (could be 78 or 79). Also the unknown "Van Halen Chronicles". Plus 3 tapes of "Home Movies"

Soundboard Audio of Castle Donnington 1984

Soundboard Audio from the Record Plant - 6/11/1981 Oakland. 16 reels.

It is to bad they didn't ask him if it is other shows from what we already kind of know about. Possibly Monk is the source of the 1980 Largo Soundboard that got leaked, that most assume is from the In house Video.

Unfortunately, I think there are more 8mm movies of the after show "performances" than there is film of actual show performances.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

I really have zero desire to see 8MM footage of DLR getting it on with a set of groupies.

In fact, I wouldn't watch it if it somehow got leaked.

Wasn't there a story that before Eddie passed, he and Al were at Noel Monk's office watching old live concert footage? Even if it was true, I'm sure it means nothing for us, but I seem to remember hearing about that.

I remember in one of the books, Marshall Berle took some of the 8mm films and showed them to the secretarial pool at someone's office (WB, talent agency, can't remember), and that it went over like a lead balloon.

I read where the Capital Centre in Largo was one of the first arenas to have the in-house video production. I'm glad the 82 Largo show is out there on professionally shot video. It's interesting how the best video live shows available of CVH were from the '82-'83 era (i.e. Largo 82, Argentina '83, Sao Paulo '83).

Yep, I can't help but think the parting of DLR does not happen after the 1984 tour if a stronger manger and team was in place for the band. Subsequently, after Ed Leffler died things went south quickly with Ray Danniels at the helm.

There should have been an official concert vid made from the 84 tour. They were at their peak. We got LWAN a couple years later and it was great--I wore out that VHS tape...LOL. But I would've preferred one from 84.

But 80 or 81 are what many of us die-hards really want.
