Maybe I'm off but I feel like Al is glad his brother is at peace. Of course he misses him but there's nothing melancholy about that happy birthday. To me it's very upbeat.

In California, getting ordained to officiate a wedding or funeral isn't an act of faith. I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think Al just got ordained to officiate Ed's 2nd wedding. I've been "ordained" and officiated a wedding before. All in the name of Satan.

But why would AL need to officiate his brother's wedding? That makes no sense at all. For shits and giggles? Because Ed asked him? The way you say it sounds very gimmicky to me. I wouldn't want my most important day officiated by a person who took a Sy Sperling course. To each their own tho.

I think of the time the brothers visited that church in Pennsylvania I think it was. Very random thing to do. I think there is some faith there.

Btw, the family were given rosaries by the hospital chaplain when Ed passed. That made the Catholic in me happy. I love praying the Rosary believe it or not. (Thanks Dad).
