This current crop of politicians may want to be easy on crime, but once their Amazon shipments start disappearing look out! This might actually be a good thing in the long run.

This has been going on for a long time along that stretch of LA. It's finally getting attention for several reasons - the past year, trains have been really getting backed up and sit mostly unattended in that shitty part of LA for days at a time waiting to line up to be unloaded, the fact that the area is getting absolutely trashed with discarded boxes and unwanted items and of course, the growing outrage that these kind of "minor" crimes are going more or less unpunished. It's come to a head the past week when a train derailed there right in the middle of all that garbage.

You mean this is... real? ...and I thought it was just an overblown story being pushed on every FNC prime time show last night.

Things like this have ALWAYS happened so it's not a big deal. Can't go bringing it up now.

It's only a big deal if I don't get my new wi fi mouse fro amazon because it's being creatively used to do hits under a railway bridge.

It seems to be a perfect storm of COVID job losses (demand), a diminished work force due to COVID protocols and sickness when it comes to police in the area and UP security, lay of the land that makes the thieving easier, and trains sitting there due to supply issues.

The other problem is, most of the people they encounter are walking down the street with an item and simply claim they found it on the street, which isnít uneasily disproven.

The area where this happens is like a tunnel with the top uncovered so you canít be seen when you do this. Most of the people they catch they can only get for trespassing.

According to the Journal, the LA District Attorney issued a memo decriminalizing trespassing and loitering, and isnít even prosecuting the thefts that count as ďgrand theft,Ē which is the type of thing that gives criminal justice reformers a bad name.

I imagine its been going on but I do shake my head that for some people, this is life. My co-worker tells me about the trucks in bay area where they have to wash down the streets and sidewalks of human fecal matter. Says about 1-2am they power wash everything. He says in the last 10 years it has gotten really bad but noobody will do anything and just accept it as is.

Just seems like a different world and that's likely where we do have a lot of our disagreements. I can't understand the logic of how a place in this country just kind of accepts this behavior as normal. However I am sure one would say why do I live with snow. How can I deal with that. Funny what we tolerate simply because we are used to something.

To anyone who lives in or around LAÖ whatís the deal with endless piles of trash? Long story short, thereís a YouTuber who bikes through the streets in and around LA and itís like nothing to see huge piles of trash; alleys, street corners, open fields, etc. Between the tents on the sidewalks and the trash piles, itís kinda disgusting.

Parts of California are the very definition of the haves and the have nots. It's very expensive to live there, so a person doesn't have much room for error.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
