Sounds like release of first 6 albums on some kind of vinyl?

All I care about is something I have never heard.
Nature's intent is neither food, nor drink, nor clothing, nor comfort, nor anything else in which God is left out.

Whether you like it or not, whether you know it or not, secretly nature seeks, hunts, tries to ferret out the track on which God may be found. . .

I hope some alternate tracks are included like the Led Zep deluxe reissues.

Imagine a cleaned up version of this:

    Vinyl.

What is it about that dead format that keeps these (legacy) bands continually going back to that well. It's such a niche market.

These are all six of the Roth era albums on so-called audiophile "One-Step" direct to vinyl mastering. Each album is a two record, 45rpm set in a box about the same size as the Led Zep super deluxe boxes. There's no extra tracks, no extra print material, just the original album and original artwork housed in a box. The pressing run for these kind of releases is usually in the 5,000 - 10,000 copies. Each album cost $125. So for all six albums, a cool $750 plus whatever tax and shipping.

From Mobile Fidelity's website, here's what a One Step LP is:

"More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior
Instead of utilizing the industry-standard three-step lacquer process, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's new UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) uses only one step, bypassing two processes of generational loss. While three-step processing is designed for optimum yield and efficiency, UD1S is created for the ultimate in sound quality. Just as Mobile Fidelity pioneered the UHQR (Ultra High-Quality Record) with JVC in the 1980s, UD1S again represents another state-of-the-art advance in the record-manufacturing process. MFSL engineers begin with the original master tapes and meticulously cut a set of lacquers. These lacquers are used to create a very fragile, pristine UD1S stamper called a "convert." Delicate "converts" are then formed into the actual record stampers, producing a final product that literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music. By skipping the additional steps of pulling another positive and an additional negative, as done in the three-step process used in standard pressings, UD1S produces a final LP with the lowest noise floor possible today. The removal of the additional two steps of generational loss in the plating process reveals tremendous amounts of extra musical detail and dynamics, which are otherwise lost due to the standard copying process. The exclusive nature of these very limited pressings guarantees that every UD1S pressing serves as an immaculate replica of the lacquer sourced directly from the original master tape. Every conceivable aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the most perfect record album available today."

I have yet to own any One-Step album. To me, such product on an inherently flawed (surface noise, bad pressings, etc) physical format is close to snake oil, imo. AFAIC, the hi-rez downloads of the classic 6-pack is the end word on sound quality for these albums.

They are making money off of these vinyl re-releases. That simple.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Let's say they do sell 10,000 of them at $125 a pop, that's a cool $1.25M for pretty much re-releasing something you did 40 years ago.
