They have been very aggressive so far. Unlike the other team in NYC.

I love Scherzer, but 4 years guaranteed (if accurate) seems like a long commitment to make.

    Enjoy losing Max.

Iím completely fine with the Dodgers figuring out a way to give Seager and Kershaw all that money.

And as disgusting as I think Trevor Bauer is, if Dodgers are going to have to eat all that money and heís allowed to pitch then he probably should just fucking pitch. I mean I know itís horrible and heís a piece of shit but they paid him and they should at least get the benefit of what he can do. I donít know that situation really sucks though. I assume at some point heíll probably be suspended but until then. Iím so conflicted on that whole thing. Oh not conflicted about what a vile human being he is, Iím just talking about the whole situation with his contract and such. If somehow heís allowed to pitch and the Dodgers let him go and someone else gets him basically for free I think thatís bullshit. And trust me somebody will sign him.

And on Gausman. Sorry I just canít see a guy who has a 64-72 record with a 4.02 ERA (and thatís after his best season) on the wrong side of 30 being such a great deal for Toronto. I think people are really overestimating the one good season heís had in his entire career. He also pitched in a pitcherís park last year. I donít know what all the hype is but I just donít see it. The guy has absolutely no track record for success. Being stuck with that contract for five years. Wow.

Gauseman stunk it up in Baltimore but then even if he was good they never would have paid him.

I just donít get paying a guy for one season that heís had where he was good. And letís not get crazy, he wasnít super amazing last year, but he was very solid. And thatís literally the only good full season heís ever had in his entire career. And heís over 30. Now heís going back to the AL where he was bad.

I thought he preferred the west coast. Why the fuck would he want to go there? I know, $$. But he could get that anywhere.

Mets also got Starling Marte, Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha. But no mention of Baez yet.

    $$$

Obviously the Dodgers werenít willing to offer him that many years or that much cash.

I canít imagine wanting to play for the Mets even with the deals theyíve made but maybe he sees it as just simply a money thing. Heís already won a championship.

    I agree.
Happens all the time in baseball. Players cash in on one great season. But, at least, he'll have a really good offense behind him now in case things do go south for him.

Itís funny how like anything guys do in the past doesnít matter to a GM it seems. He had a great year last year that must be who he is now. But I think you have to look at a lot of factors when making that decision. I just donít see a guy of that caliber being worth five years with that much money. I know you can never have enough great starting pitching I just donít know that he is a great starting pitcher.

I just think when a guy has the year of his life and an ERA of 2.80 and still doesnít have a career ERA under 4 with that, yeah I donít know.

Gaussman just lost a little of that offense behind him:

    Semien to the Rangers. 7yrs/$175M

Rangers also get SP Jon Gray.

    Kluber to the Rays.

In fairness to Gausman, it's been 2 years of good performance. I still hate the term but i think the best bet on him is he'll be good for the Jays and that Baltimore just doesn't know what they are doing.

To say that the Orioles don't know what they are doing baseball wise is an understatment but they do know how to make money as they owned the tv rights not just to them but the Nats. Angelos went from a middle class family his father owned a bar and grill and he washed dishes there as a kid to a self made billionare lawyer who specialized in asbestos law suits. I don't know about his son John but the business I worked at my whole life they where clients and I had lots of interactions with the old man. He always complained about the price etc. The son wears tailor made suits and drives a sports car well over 100k dad always wore off the off the rack stuff and drove a Cadillac.
