Where’s the 5150 iconic

Stuck offshore? I thought it was supposed to be out by now. My old 5150 is acting up and I’d like something cheap I don’t care about that can somewhat pull off that tone and I think this would do it. Anyone play with one, is there a few here?

I imagine it would be released officially at NAMM? January isn't all that far away. The WG basses are also coming soon, I expect.

I know ultimately at the end of the day, its all about how it sounds, but I have to say...I think the 5150 Iconic combo is ugly.

Just imagine, a young Edward, and Alex, spray painting house addresses on curbs in Pasadena, and it will seem a little better

Ha ha, yeah you're probably right. Personally, I think the Frankenstein perfectly symbolizes everything that makes rock n roll what it is--rebellion against the establishment, breaking the rules, non-conformity, and a celebration of individualism. Its kind of ironic that at the end, EVH sort of became a corporation himself. But, he did appear to deliver well made and respected products.

I was curious how the company would continue without Eddie's leadership. Sadly, now it looks like I'm finding out. Those new amps just look like a company cutting corners. I'd like to be wrong though. I hope they sound good.

EVH Gear keep posting an image of an EVH Custom headstock. I'm hoping for a new one, as those have been discontinued for a while.

As for the 5150 iconic, they'll probably sound like a 5150 does. If I can hook a 5150 Overdrive up to an amp and easily get the 5150 sound, they surely can put in that package.

Not that it matters much but NAMM has been pushed to June 2022. Won't slow down the rollout of the Iconic...the delay is certainly tied to supply chain issues.

last time it got hot, it lost volume and sounded like it was comb filtering. i figure the screen grid resistors at the power tubes are failing. i bit the bullet and found a MIA 6505+ for a good price. i forgot how stiff that circuit was though, will need to play with tubes to find something that isn’t so dead feeling to play lead on. the OG 5150 i have sure sounds great tho, will have to get those resistors fixed.
