George Clooney offers his opinions on what happened. Cant say anything he's saying is illogical. Especially, the last part.

"Why, for the life of me, this low-budget film with producers who haven't produced anything wouldn't have hired for the armorer someone with experience," Clooney said. "Maybe they weren't even using that gun to do target practice, but they had live ammo with dummies in her pack and that is insane." The armorer is the person on set who in charge of the weapons and artillery.

The actor said he doesn't know Baldwin well, doesn't believe there was "any intent by anybody to do anything wrong" and called it a "a terrible accident."
Clooney shared the protocols he said people in the industry are supposed to follow.

"Every single time I'm handed a gun on set, I look at it, I open it, I show it to the person I'm pointing it to, we show it to the crew," he said. "Every single take you hand it back to the armorer when you're done, and you do it again."

Clooney said it himself. It was low budget. He works on gazillion dollar budget films with only the best.

Big difference in movies between Baldwin and Clooney.

It's not like Baldwin only does indie films. He's been in Mission Impossible movies and many other big budget films.

I thought it was interesting that Clooney said he had never heard the phrase "cold gun." Probably because every gun on a movie set should be considered 'cold' and there's no need to declare such a thing.

Acting in an indie film and producing it isn't exactly the same (perhaps standards) as being in a production directed by Ridley Scott etc.

The money to hire the best just isn't there.

You get what you pay for.

So, if you don't have the money to hire qualified armorers, maybe, just maybe, don't have live ammo on the set.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Its not any different than any other thing that costs money. Who you hire, use, location,. etc is going to dependant on your budget. You are going to do whatever you can to go the lowest bidder if you feel they can offer a similar service as a higher priced vendor or employee.

A big budget movie likely isn't going to be worried about hiring and thinking of the bottom line. Well their line will be higher than a low budget production. That said, the one rule that everybody should think when picking up a gun is that its loaded. Even after checking it.

There is no reason to have any live ammo on a set no matter the skill or experience of the armorer. It's just a simple safety issue

'Alec chose to play Russian Roulette': Rust script supervisor breaks down in tears as she SUES Baldwin over Halyna Hutchins' death because he 'cocked and fired the gun even though the scene didn't call for it'

Mitchell was standing close to the Director of Photography, Halyna Hutchins, when the Bullet from Alec Baldwin's gun fatally shot her

Allred alleged that live ammunition was brought to the set and that the assistant director improperly handed Baldwin the gun

Baldwin knew that the gun should've never been given to him and that he could not rely on the AD about whether or not the gun was safe to use

'Mr. Baldwin chose to play Russian Roulette when he fired a gun without checking it and without having an armorer within his presence,' she said

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...iles-suit.html

My instinct from the get go was that Alec was fucking around on the set.

The suit claims assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and deliberate infliction of harm. It also states that the scene being shot did not require a gun to be fired.

The suit names names 22 defendants associated with the film including Baldwin, Rust producers, six production companies - El Dorado Pictures, Thomasville Pictures, Short Porch Pictures, Brittany House Pictures, 3rd Shift Media and Streamline Global - armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, First Assistant Director David Halls and others.

It was a rehearsal of a scene in which Baldwin's character was supposed to draw facing the camera. Of course he wasn't supposed to "shoot" but just the act of whipping out a gun from a hostel like Quick Draw McDraw greatly increases the likelihood of the trigger being touched in some way. Had the gun been unloaded as it was supposed to be and indicated by the Assistant Director who handed it to Baldwin, it wouldn't of mattered if Baldwin hit the trigger or not.

These lawsuits popping up from various crew seem to be designed to get a payout from the source of money (Bawdwin, producers, insurance) and not actually addressing the real reason why this accident happened in the first place which would lie at the Amorer and Asst Director.
