Man…what a fuckin’ banger. It’s criminal that we didn’t get an album of material in this vein in ‘97-‘97.

I know not everyone's a fan and he had trouble doing the recording, but I love love love Dave's vocals and we get to hear both extremes of his vocal range (before that went to shit too).

Could you imagine Gary, or Sammy for that matter, giving the instrumental their vocal treatment and having a song come out even half as good as the final product here?

I can just visualize Dave pointing to his eye with his index finger for emphasis as he sings "SEE! Through my eyes..." in the recording booth.

Nope, not even close. No way Gary or Sam wouldve come close. The delivery, the clever lyrics, the vocal melody. Dave brought his "A+++" game on MWM.

The whole band brought it. Al's drums never sounded better in the studio, and his playing is bombastic.

Yes, except the pre-chorus where he tries to sing high, in "New Dave" mode. That part would probably suit Sam or Gary's voices better.

I think it's good when he uses it sparingly, like in MWM and "She's the Woman." Not as much with "Outta Space" or "Beats Workin,'" but I still dig it, just not as much as his regular singing voice of course.

I like it on MWM. His voice still retained a smooth tone at that point. Its cool, people hate Dave's voice on MWM, though usually the same people think Sam sounded perfect on Balance. For me, most of Balance is Sam straining and when he went too high on that album it was scratchy and screeching. To each their own.

We shouldve gotten a full CVH album released in 98 with Ballard producing and Musper engineering. It wouldve been epic.

This is one of the rare instances where the sustainer fits perfectly.

I can distrinctly remember when I first heard this or part of this song. Was stationed in Iceland, with 28.8k download. Saw a link somewhere that this was played on Stern and downloaded the file which took a few hours. They only played a bit of it but it was very cool

One of the best outros in the VH catalog.

DLR has his own unique style and granted Sammy and Cherone could pull this off in their own way but it wouldn't be as good as DLR. I think Gary would do the best with MWM.

It's no different with asking DLR to sing some Sammy era songs or Cherone era VH stuff. DLR couldn't pull off some tracks from Sammy and Gary era VH either sure he could try but it wouldn't sound as good.

DLR though was perfect for this track and he nailed it.

Just a great, great tune! I actually preferred CGTSNM initially, because Dave's voice was more in his natural range, but I've come to absolutely love MWM. The drumming and guitar totally smokes
