Default How to Remove Wolfgang Special Tone and Volume Knobs

I know this is a dumb question, but what type of tool is required to remove the Tone and Volume knobs? I see a screw of some kind there, but I donít seem to have the sized Allen wrench or screw driver.

Scotty, you're just gonna have to get a loupe or something, and see what's in there.
It could be Allen, standard or Metric, or a slotted screw.
These can change with depending on the vendor where they source them from

Donít they just pop off like a Gibson volume knob?

Try using dental floss to get underneath the knob to pop it off.

I think they're like MXR knobs, with the set screw

Whereís the screw? In through the back up into the knob?

Iíve never heard of a knob being screwed to the shaft of a volume pot, but maybe I donít know enough about these EVH models.

I still have my MIJ Wolfgang Special and the knobs on mine are slotted set screws. IDK if they have changed since then or remain the same.

My MIM Specials have hex set screws. Pretty sure they're 1/16".

It'll be pretty clear if it's a slotted / flathead screw like LAD's. If you're having trouble sorting it out then you've probably got the hex screw variety.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

It doesn't seem to be a slotted hex screw, but the small Allen wrench that came with the guitar doesn’t seem to be the right size. I need to run up to Home Depot and see if I can find the right size.

The small Allen wrench that came with the guitar is probably for the D-Tuna fine adjustment.

I just checked for ya, it's indeed a 1/16" hex bit set screw on my Specials.

Scotty, there is no such thing as a slotted hex screw.

    It's a slot. It's an Allen Head. It's a slot. It's an Allen Head.....................

Just to be clear, it will either be a small slotted screw, or a Metric Allen Head, or a Standard Allen Head, depending on the knob manufacture, that the knobs were sourced from, when your guitar was built.
They can be different, as we have witnessed here, by the claims of slotted screws, or Allen Heads.
Several manufacturers make these kinds of knobs, and they are not all identical.

I suppose you could get lucky, and just happen to stick just the right sized Allen wrench in there, just right, and it grabs ahold of a slot

...Or even just the right sized flat screw driver, and it catches in the hex

I use a loupe quite often, and I am not ashamed to do so

Can somebody post a picture of how these fucking knobs are screwed in?

Iíve looked on Google and I donít see where they would be screwed in...they just look like regular knobs that could be taken off.
