    Default Vote for Mikey!

SiriusXM Volume's Facebook page has a poll going, and a debate in the comments, asking people to vote on Michael Anthony or Nikki Sixx. I know this isn't the most significant thing in the world, but hey, what the hell else do we have to do as VH fans nowadays? #VoteMike

Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello

Okay I voted for Mikey. It's a very easy choice.

No doubt, it probably would be for all of us here, but in trying to be as objective as possible, I still go with Mike. Straight bass playing skills? I guess you could debate that, but Mike's vocals put him over the top for me.

Yes, without a doubt, Nikki has it over Mike in the songwriting category. To me though, Mike wins in playing ability and obviously vocals. So, 2 out of 3, Mike wins.

I'm still trying to figure out how the Crue got famous? Being outrageous I suppose.

First two albums are pretty good...really spotty after that.

Shout at the Devil is a just push play album.

nikki was a special talent and essentially the leader of crue, MA has no where the amount of contribution to music that nikki has. nikki was also smart enough to figure out how to stay relevant and grow the fan base from boomers unlike van halen, and people gave a shit about saints of LA unlike the newest VH record. crue was also better then vh when i saw them in the 07/08 era.

nikki and motley crue were so much better to their fans in the past 20 years, and created a better product. the books were cool for a teenager like me to read, nikki is an author, song writer, band leader, radio show host, on top of being a bass player. ma is a bass player.

MC was a good band back in the day. Some cheesy stuff here and there but some very good material. In some ways they kind of reminded me of early VH, Ozzy and Metallica. Obviously not in the same category but as they got popular, they changed a bit to a softer, PG13 version of themselves.

Anyway Nikki is not what one would say a great bass player but the guy could write a song. Kind of unfair to pit him and Mike against each other because they really are polar opposites. One runs the band, writes songs, is an alpha male and the other guy is a musician but with that very much a beta male.

Mike is great and Nikki is great.

I don't know which Motley Crue people saw in 2007/08, but it must have been different than the one I saw in that timeframe.

The Crue on the Feelgood tour is one of the best shows I've ever seen, they were on point, so I am not hating on the Crue, but they were a drunken mess when I saw them in the mid 2000's, Red, White and Crue era, I was embarrassed for them.

I can remember seeing a mess of a Van Halen show in 2004, then a shit show for Crue in 2005.

    Money well spent.

Vince could barely stand up in that show, the crowd sang more than he did. Well, that might be better now that I think of it.
