Absolutely one of the most beautiful kits he ever played. I remember reading somewhere that he had already had Ludwig build him a new custom kit for what was supposed to be a few stadium CVH reunion shows in 2019. Damn shame we will never get to see that kit.

Always found it very interesting and amusing that JD played with Mad Anthony Express in Fall 07'. Was surprised then and still a bit now that Alex would have let him play with Mike, on Sam's bill.

But boy do I remember JD nailing Alex's parts. That entire band was on fire. Vic included. Faithfully nailed every CVH tune they played.

He was phenomenal. I remember turning to Jetguy5150 and going, This fucking guy sounds exactly like Alex


Interesting to see a little crossover from VH to Sam’s world especially at that time.

Which begs the question; how have various soundboard shows been liberated? Someone with access just decide to trade/upload?

Good question. It is amazing how many high quality soundboard recordings of the 78 and 79 tours have come out. Recordings that sound better and more organic than the official RHRN and Tokyo Dome recordings.

Thanks for posting those videos guys, never seen them before. It's kind of funny as a non-drummer, I've never given much thought to the amount of effort that goes into putting that kit together.
