5150 and BOBW were highlights for me on LWAN. And of course, the iconic Eddie solo!!

What was with the very ending after the credits or whatever..seemed like a different part of the show. I haven't watched in ages so, just remember it being awkward

Ed and Sam used to jam at the end of the show then the band would leave the stage and come back for the encore

There is a bunch of stuff edited out of LWAN. At least a half hour of footage from that show is on the cutting room floor.

This very next post after yours is a perfect example...( FYI- I'm not criticizing the post at all it's a good true comment , just using it as an example that shows live VH is forever represented by this one LWAN official concert video )....

Particularly EVH's solo segment. Which is sensational of course.

But- The VAN HALEN BAND from 1978 to 1984, before LWAN, used to be the absolutely most phenomenal badass balls to the wall bombastic LIVE ROCK SHOW in all of rock music history...

& There is NO LWAN from 1984 or 1981 or 1978....

    So you know....

The VH most commonly revered in many instances is from 1986....( As good as it is...I agree & like it too...) But there's NO 1984 LWAN....which could of very well been done.

Imagine if they had both. TWO professionally shot full shows. One from 1984 & this 86 show.

THEN- The fans would see & hear with their own eyes & ears the magnificent electrifying glory of a sensational VH show from the 1984 Tour.
Alex in particular doesn't bring anywhere near the energy or chops on LWAN that he did on the previous tours, and Mike, well, he certainly doesn't do any of the, or very little of the fills he did on the first 2 or 3 tours.

It is a shame there isn't more documentation of the original band on top of the mountain.

LWAN is near perfection for me. I've watched it a million times. Don't care about any post production things that may have happened. The first time I saw it I was 10 year old and they showed it on MTV. I taped it and watched it pretty much everyday for a year. It really brought my VH fandom to a new higher level. At 10 years old a live concert was all new to me.

I think that was Sam's point. Ed was pressured by the powers that be to be sober onstage, which he was on the first night. Sam is saying that Ed played better on the second night doing it "his way", which is to say with alcohol. As you say, it's obvious that Ed is drunk on LWAN, the footage of which is from the second, alcohol-infused show. Ed just played like a God that way, proving the powers that be wrong about a sober performance being a better performance. Twenty years later they'd have been right. But, Ed was still at his physical peak in 86 and his body could handle it.

Pretty sure they opened the show, with Make It Last from Sammy's Montrose era.

There is an unedited version of LWAN out there somewhere, it's been posted on here before.

They opened with YRGM, and also performed Dreams, Good Enough, and Summertime Blues and I think one other song.
