Itís cool but look if it meant that much to Ed he would have kept it. Itís just not THAT big of a deal.

Exactly. That guitar probably didn't spend more than a few months with Ed.

If I got to see/play this guitar I'd be like "okay, cool"

If I got to see/play the Frankenstein or the 5150 I'd need to change my shorts.

Itís in a few pictures that Eddie was in, but other than that there is no provenance or history of him using it, playing it or being seen with it. He might not have played the guitar for more than a minute. Nobody knows. It might as well be a piece of carpet or a pair of string snippers or a tissue, allegedly from 5150.

Iím exaggerating but you get my jist. Itís still a cool, obscure collectorís piece if it is what it is. I wouldnít say itís an investment piece though. Unfortunately, and people can disagree all they want, provenance and a clear history of an instruments ownership influence value of a guitar on the open market.

Itís why photographs of people playing vintage Gibsons and Fenders are so important. Especially for celebrity guitars.

As I previously mentioned earlier in the thread, I think Ernest is going to have to get lucky to double the money he spent for it considering it has a shady back story. He also acknowledged on his IG that he was incorrect in saying it was used on WACF so while he is a very respected collector, even they can get these things wrong as well.

If I was him, Iíd just keep it and love it for what it is.

In the particular instance I see this no difference than paying for a pair of Eddie Reebokís.

All the other guitars have a history. This is just a guitar that may or may not have been owned at one point by Ed.

This won't be hard at all, I've found the perfect piece of Mahogany!
I was cutting away at the table saw last week, and noticed this chunk in the lumber rack.
I pulled it out a little and looked at it, and said nope.
But then I turned it over, and there it was! My Hog!

The graining is right on, it just needs some highlights, and some lowlights. This is gonna be piece of cake
She'll be getting a Super D, a Kahler 2500 w/deluxe nut clamp, and Schaller minis (since I already have that laying around).
Now the neck from Warmoth might take a while. (1 3/4" and Ebony, 'cause I'm doing this my way )

I am one that never really cared for Edwards striped guitars.
What flipped my mind, when I got their first album in early '78,
was looking at the front picture with a magnifying glass,
and actually saying out loud, "He put a humbucker in a strat!"
To me, stripes mean nothing at all. But that's just me.
I respect everyone's passion for stripes.
A chunk of wood, with a humbucker in it, is what gets my attention. That's it's guts.

When that pick ax picture showed up in Guitar Player magazine, and I saw that Hog for the very first time,
just laying there on the floor...well...I thought that was the coolest freakin' thing...ever!

So yeah, what is cool to some, doesn't really matter to others, and visa-versa,
regardless of wether it was actually used, or not.
I have always loved that thing

Sorry to quote you again Jedi, but I turned the pic this time, to compare the natural grain directions.
    I think I got real lucky here;

The grain pattern is dissimilar to the guitar that was purchased but Iím sure itís going to be an excellent build.

Looks like great work so far, and a fun project too. Enjoy the new guitar.

I've been working from super lousy pictures.
I have to imagine what the grain does under the Floyd and PU,
so the most logical path would be what I know from seeing wood most my life.
And the part by the volume knob, well, I'm just winging it!
If anyone has some better versions of these Zlozower pics, I'd love to see them
