4K restoration of Van Halen music videos

I know some bands have been restoring their old music videos to 4K and they look incredible. I wonder if Wolf and Alex would be interested in 4K restorations of some Van Halen videos from all 3 eras. I would love to have some Van Halen in 4K.

I don't think any Van Halen stuff will be officially released as long as Al is alive.

I hate to say it but i kinda agree with ya. at the very least its surprising Warners havent reissued the Hagar vinyl. Not sure they need Al’s approval for that.

Allow me to join you in the beating on the dead horse! Which has now turned to swatting the flies that engulf the carrion! I can't understand why 5150, OU812 and FUCK haven't been remastered. "Balance" doesn't need remastering, IMO. It sounds great. But the other 3 Hagar-era albums desperately need it. I wouldn't think that WB would need anyone's permission to do this, but I must be wrong or it probably would have been done to coincide with the '04 tour.

Clearly a case of the artist(s) don't have any interest or motivation in releasing a damn thing... It's not like they'd have to do much other other listen to it and approve it.

Leaves one to speculate that it's more about how they want to ensure no one benefits from their artistry... or to be more specific certain business entities can't profit from it...

OU812 needs a remix, not a remaster.

As time goes by, I've come to dislike the production on FUCK more and more. It needs a re-do as well.

It's just a muddy mess.

One thing I've never seen discussed in interviews, etc. is what the acoustics at 5150 are like, in comparison to say Sunset Sound. Maybe that contributes to it too, not just who is turning the knobs.

FWIW, in my opinion Wolf's album sounds fucking great, and it was mostly recorded at 5150.

Ted Templeman dedicates a paragraph in his book to comparing 5150 to Sunset Sound, saying that it was "deader than a doornail" in 5150 as far as capturing a live, warm sound, but Ed, Alex, and Don Landee loved it at the time. This must have been the first phase of 5150's construction so I guess it's possible that they got a better sound when they expanded the studio.
