Toys In The Attic and Rocks are about as good of back-to-back albums ever released by a rock & roll band. Aerosmith eventually morphed into a slightly less annoying version of Bon Jovi.

Unmasked over masked for KISS, by a wide margin.

Bruce Kulick was the best guitar player that band had, by a mile.

    This, by a gazillion.

Wait, so it's basically KISS 70's (masked) vs KISS 80's (unmasked)? And you're going with Lick it Up (80's) over Destroyer (70's)?!

I'm not a big KISS fan but I have to go with masked over unmasked by a wider margin.

    I never specified any album.
I just said unmasked over masked as a whole.
But if we're gonna cite albums, Revenge and Crazy Nights are the top of the heap, musicianship wise.
The one masked era album that is great top to bottom is Creatures of the Night. The title track, War Machine, Killer & I Still Love You should have all been regular live staples.

C'mon Brett, according to Gene, lip syncing while dressed up in Halloween costumes is authentic talent.

To a guy that had no talent to begin with Iím sure it does.

I just donít get the Kiss thing and I never will. They are such poor musicians I canít believe how people love their stuff. Itís just the most dumbed down basic hard rock you could possibly write. Itís not even fun like AC/DC, itís just stupid. And Angus Young can play circles around Ace Frehley anyway.

I just donít fucking get it!!! Haha.

But I donít get Bruce Springsteen or Bon Blowme either.

I really believe they needed the gimmick of the makeup. There had to be something to compensate for their poor musicianship. But we've seen other people with subpar music skills make it. So good for them.

I know you didn't specify an album, I was just using their most successful (I think) albums of each decade as examples.

I like Revenge and Creatures too. But I don't think either of them compare to Destroyer. To me, it's by far their best album. I know we all have different opinions. I'm just surprised to hear votes for unmasked over masked, I guess.

When they took off their makeup way back in 1983 there was a huge public outcry of "Ugh, please put it back on!"

Paulís a decent rhythm guitar player and Peter was a decent drummer.

But Iíll never understand why people idolize Ace. Every time I hear him play I just scratch my head... He stinks, IMO.

Kulick was a better player by miles upon miles upon miles.

I never thought much of Peter Criss as a drummer to be honest. Basic timekeeper.

The only thing I will say is I do think Paul Stanley in his heyday had a good voice. To me that is the only redeeming thing I hear in their music.
