I'm a big fan of VHII. Great, great record. I'm not a fan of YNG but that's about it. YNG just never clicked with me for some reason.

I do too. Like I said earlier, BG is my least favorite track on the album and yet that is an absolutely stellar example of the swing that the Brothers had that most hard rock musicians can only dream of being capable of.

Didn't know VHI was up to 17M units shipped. That's a shitload of albums.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Van Halen II and 1984 are the two albums where I cannot pick a least favorite song.

I remember quite a few people that didn’t like the Linda Ronstadt cover, it was too soon after her version (which although was released 5 years prior, it was still getting substantial airplay), Dance the Night Away, believe it or not, was considered a pseudo-disco tune (or at least a weak attempt at one…signifying the band selling out for a hit), and it didn’t help that DLR was photographed partying in full Diamond Dave mode at in all places Studio 54

I don't like disco, but I would have enjoyed the shit out of Studio 54 (if I could have gotten in with my ugly mug...probably not).

I really can't honestly pick least favorites on WACF, FW, or 1984.

If instrumentals are allowed, I would go with Tora! Tora!, Sunday Afternoon In The Park and 1984. If not, then that's a whole different story.

Even including instrumentals I can't choose. I loved VH instrumentals and wished they had done more of them.

Who the fuck thinks VHII isn't great? Yeah not as great as VHI but neither are any/almost all of their albums. It's in the middle rankings for me, but still, but not sure how this is even a topic of discussion.

II is the third part of the VH Trinity, after WACF and FW, for me. It represents the entire band better than the debut IMO, with more times to shine on the bass for Mike, superior playing and drum sound for Al, and Dave becoming more like Diamond Dave, and Ed continuing to stretch the boundaries of the guitar with some more new tricks up his sleeve.

To me, VHII shows the massive influence of Ted Templeman. What we got is Ted's album. Ed & Al's album would've for sure started with LUTS.

YNG is definitely Ted - he was hanging out with Linda Rondstadt and Jerry Brown at that time, he talks about it in his memoir. Then you have DTNA, with that Latin swing that Ted always loved, even in his own band Harper's Bizarre. Only with the 3rd song, SGMAD, do u get typical early VH. But that's what made it great - the unpredictability of this band.

I've bought it on cassette, compact disc (twice), and two months ago I bought it on vinyl. So that's 4 copies just from me. LOL

I never knew there was hate for You're No Good. It may help that I had never heard the original song before hearing the VH version, and I didn't even realize it was a cover for at least a year or two. They own it and play it like their own.
