Well it was a side project that all expressed a desire to continue. The excuse given was Smith. Can't do it without him (whatever) so that still left Satriani who would have no choice but to cover VH etc.

At the end of the day Sam said it cost too much so that's that.

I think the real issue has to do with Sammy getting writers' block during the recording of the second album. He mentioned that he up and went to Cabo, I think it was, during the recording sessions. I think that scared him. Rightfully so.

But his lyrics were pretty solid by his standards so not sure if being scared is a bad thing.

Oh I am sure the truth is a combination of things. Defintely not the cost of doing albums. Since then Satch has done solo albums and I am sure he isn't selling 1 million units. Chad obviously is busy with RHCP but I am sure he itches to play with a singer that doesn't sing in the key of B Quiet. Mike honestly is a great guy but he is no different than my dog. I am his god. I feed him, play with him and he follows me everywhere. Where Sam goes, Mike is right beside him like the goodest boy

Likely Satch not wanting to do VH and Sam solo is a part of it. Honestly I think he also doesn't like being a part of the VH bullshit. He seems to be a great guy who gets along with everybody. I am sure the guys would talk about the bad stuff and maybe he isn't comfortable around it?

Its not about money. Sammy isn't making money on The Circle or his solo albums. He puts them out to tour where yes he makes money. CF could make money too.

So then it's just typical Sam mediocrity at this stage?

Actually I do think a part of CF and its demise is that it was maybe a bit more work than play. I think making a Circle album or a Sam solo album is a bit easier than CF. The pressure of writing with Joe and Chad is a bit different than the Vic and Jason. Joe isn't going to put his name on just a fun little side project. Its art to him. Chad being in the RHCP does have the capacity to be a goof but they are all business as well. Maybe what was going to be a fun side project was a little too much like VH in a way with the pressure to deliver. Not saying Sammy isn't putting in the work or not willing. Just doing what he is doing is more enjoyable.

Well, he is 73. I think people are missing the fact of how old that is. What's Robert Plant doing? What's Roger Daltry doing? Mediocre activity that the fans enjoy, including the concerts is better than being sedentary.

I did a google search for "73 year old man". This is what came up:

Big difference between Plant, Daltrey, and Sam but YYMV.

Two legends and a legend only in his mind.

I'll go back and read it all but just want to say that CF is a super group. Sam knows that more than anything. He's a business man. He probably thinks he can pull off a CF reunion in Vegas... under his own brand.

It's high time and the time is nigh for the foot.

If that is the point you took away from my post then you missed the point. Neither of them are recreating the Who and Zep right now, are they? Sam has been more prolific than both but we are fretting that he's not creating the best music of his career. So what are we expecting from senior citizen Hagar (who is actually older than Plant) and why?

I'd disagree and say that Robert Plant has been putting out some incredibly high quality material over the last 20 years, but that's just me.

Everything since Walking into Clarksdale (boo) has been really good to great.
