To me that's nonsense, my wife is not impacting whether or not I talk to someone.

But then, that might be why my wife will never be writing such a nice obituary about me as Dusty Hill's wife did.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

I wasn't necessarily speaking about his wife.

It is still nonsense, regardless of which family members you're talking about. It doesn't matter, Ed is gone so he's the one who has to live with the decisions he and Ed did or didn't make. Based on his comments recently about 2004 and supposedly "celebrating" the Van Hagar years, it's not out of the realm that he held a grudge to the end. He doesn't walk on water, he's human like the rest of us.

He signed his royalties away. This isn't 1983 it's 2004.

You can't whine about it years later. At the end of of the day idc but for me the days of "St Mike" are over. Think about who EVH was. The greatest that ever did it.

End of the day, Mike and Ed didn't have much of a relationship post VH3 and it sounds like they didn't have much of a relationship prior to that even. That's a quarter of a century. They were estranged much longer than they were friendly. Mike and Ed were more coworkers than they were songwriting partners like Ed and Sam. Different kind of relationship.

The opportunity was there for Mike to reach out to Eddie. Mike had his reasons and he chose not to. Now he has to sit in it. Its as simple as that.

I would add that Ed was never the kind of guy to say sorry first. That was my impression of him anyway. Sam "I tried calling Al"

Ed "why didn't you call me"?

Sam is no doubt in contact with Mike giving him the details for those 5 months.

Then again, Ed could have told Sam "fuck Mike to my grave." Highly unlikely.

It's just so fitting that even in death there is still the infamous "VH missed opportunities".

Yeah, I think we, the fans probably feel worse about it than Mike does. I'm pretty sure he's good with things.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

He was pretty quick to bring up all the shit in an IG post two weeks ago and he didnít make a phone call to his dying former band mate who his current boss/best friend was talking to semi-regularly.

I really donít think he was or is good with things, honestly.

And thatís fine. Thatís his prerogative. Itís petty as fuck, to me. But then again, Iíve been petty and stubborn as fuck in my life.

And itís never ended well, for me. Ever. Itís ended in regret. Deep seeded regret.

Ed didnít die suddenly in a car crash. It was known amongst many in the industry that he was not doing well. You make that call. Swallow your angst. Your anger. And most importantly, your pride and you make that call.

NOW, hypothetically in Mikeís defence......what if?.....what if Ed said to Sam, that he didnít want to speak with Mike. And Mike is just reluctant to say that now that Edís gone....

Thatís a possibility I havenít seen mentioned, I donít think.

Dude, you cannot compare. You haven't had some guy mock your family name in front of millions. He went after not only his bass playing but his singing as well, against all proven facts. The money, the album cover erasing. It was like an insane personal vendetta. To me, Mike was very, very calm and level-headed during all this. I think he was very hurt - I wouldn't call it a grudge. He swallowed a lot of stuff, but everyone has their limit, and his was finally reached.

Well, I wasn't really making a comparison. But you have no idea or concept of the grudges I've held and regretted in my life and the reasons for which I've held them. You really dont.

But if what you're coming with is that Mike was pissed for 14 years because Ed called into Stern, shitfaced, and called Mike, 'Sauce Sobolewski' and goofed on his bass playing and singing.......and somehow because that never happened to me I can't relate when it comes to holding grudges and the regret I carry in having held them...........C'mon, man.

Look, you'll never see me say that Ed was not a complete dick to Michael Anthony (seemingly for no reason), but nobody put a gun to his head to tour in 04' when he saw how fucked up Ed was. Nobody put a gun to his head to sign away his rights to the VH name (which he obviously is still thinking about). These weren't children. Mike was 49 when the 04' Tour was in the works/being negotiated and he was 52 and worth $50+ million when Ed made the "family name" comment.

No disrespect, but cry me a fucking river. Yours or my real life problems and grudges and regrets take precedent over these rich rock star adults who are holding grudges over literal name-calling...

And this honestly wouldn't be a topic of discussion I'd wade into if it wasn't for that stupid IG post the Other Half made a couple weeks ago quite honestly. That told me one thing and one thing only: "We are still bitter...."

I just don't get why many VH fans are going along with the idea that it was out of question for Ed to be the one calling. Yes, Sammy called. But Ed could've called. And maybe even should've, in Mike's case.

I used to work with one of Mikeís first cousins and I was told that Mike was treated very poorly by Eddie and Alex.
