I agree it is cliched at this point.

For a while it seemed all nu rock bass players had to be bald with a goatee. I think part of the reason pop has taken over from rock.

Everyone in rock looks and sounds the same in most instances.

Wolf isn't that guy, but then again neither was his Dad when he started playing either. It took some years and some pressure from his lead singer for Ed to become the showman he did. My advice to Wolf would be for him to scream into that mic between songs like it can't pick up his voice at a speaking level. His voice is more than powerful enough when he sings, so he clearly has the ability, he just needs to extend that mojo between songs.
I think you're right that this is just a personality thing and Ed was in some ways the same way (I think Wolf is even more shy than Ed). We have to remember this isn't his first show, you can't compare him to early Ed. He's had multiple large tours playing with VH. Granted, he wasn't the frontman but I think what we see is what we will get as far as stage presence. He's much more of a showman than he was on the first couple of tours, this is about as comfortable as he's gonna be I imagine. That's ok. He's 99% musician, 1% performer when on stage. Personally, I think those percentages should be flipped when we're talking about lead singers when on stage. But that's just what I like. Other people like the guys who play the stuff great and don't want the show. I want the show.

Yeah, could you imagine the fans' reaction if Wolf were to approach the crowd, roaring:

"LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE HERE TONIGHT!!!"

They're not expecting that from him - LOL.

I do think that having the keyboard up front and center is a weird look.

Good point.....A perfect example is Warren Haynes. Whether he's playing with Gov't Mule or some other band he rarely ventures too far from his mic stand, pedal board, or amplifier even. And like EVH, he plays both lead and rhythm guitar (on very rare occasions Danny Lewis, Mule's keyboard player, will play some rhythm guitar...and trumpet). And of course with Mule Warren sings 99.9% of all the lead vocals (once and a great while Matt Abts, Gov't Mule's drummer, will sing a tune).

I will say though that Warren has tremendous stage presence as he's just a commanding personality with his blistering guitar work and very emotional vocal delivery given his amazing singing ability. Combined they create an aura about him that's a different type of presence than a typical lead singer moving all over dancing and doing various acrobatics if you will.

Wolf has played 3 shows as a singer/frontman. LOL, maybe give him just a little more time to get acclimated. This is completely different than staying in the background out of the way of Dave and Ed.

Disagree. It is HIS music, I'm sure he is proud to, and wants, to play the leads. And I'd say he is a far better player than those three guys. For me, it would be kind of lame if he didn't play lead.

You don't think he will ever grow as a frontman, even though he's only ever done it 3 times, I would say I think he likely will grow into the role a little more over time. He's never going to be over the top, but I do think he will become more comfortable and looser over time.

Oh he will get better, of course. He'll get better at everything. I just don't think he's wired to be the type of stage owning frontman i prefer. Nothing wrong with that, just personal preference. He's more stand there and play/sing than he is DLR.

Love Wolf and his new band. There are 5 songs that are getting some serious play in my car and home. I expected a lot from this kid, and it has exceeded my expectations. In the clips I saw from his shows prior to joining GNR, he was great, and these clips are great too, because the band sounds great. Maybe he does or doesn't need to work on stage presence. I'm not being a jagoff, but being in a band, and being heavier at one point, I'm going to tell you that Wolf jumping around would impact his vocals, and probably his playing. Sounds like I'm being judgmental. I'm not. He is as big as he has ever been, and if he doesn't care, neither do I. He looks happy. And that's awesome. I'm just offering that he would need to be in better physical shape if you want him to run around stage, and even expend energy in between songs. Anyway, I can't wait to see these guys live! Well done, Wolf!

Oh yeah, he will definitely never be in the DLR mold, but very few are these days.

Absolutely....It's a whole different animal altogether then his previous performances. Personally speaking, I like that he's a tremendous musician first and a lead singer/entertainer second. And as you said, he'll only get more comfortable as time goes on.

It was all seats on the floor except for the small pit up front. I was in the 8th row of seats. There was general admission about the 60 yard line on back (Hershey has a football field). Most folks around me were standing for the first two songs, sat down a bit until You're to Blame was played.

As for the keyboard, he played it on two songs: Stone and I'm forgetting the other (maybe Epiphany).

The crowd was into him for several songs like Don't Back Down, You're to Blame, Distance, and maybe another song or two.

This type of music ain't for my ears. Give me Greta Van Fleet with a different singer and we're cool.

I wanna hear the old sound not 2000's.

I agree to a point, but as far as Wolf's style, I don't think it will change much, and that's fine.

Wolf's a musician; that's who and what he is; watching his first three shows, I am floored at his singing ability. If he keeps it up, I don't think it'd be an exaggeration to say that he's the next Plant or Hagar; he has serious pipes.

(In none of this am I arguing with you; I am simply making the point that while he'll loosen up over time, he is who he is, and that's perfectly fine)

I believe black is the suggested color to wear when you want to look slimmer. Which is why Wolfie is all in black . I think he could lose 30 lbs just this tour. He knows heís large and I feel bad for him. The shows could be his way to lose some weight. 30 lbs would do him wonders and I donít think it would be that difficult for him
