can't go wrong with pretty much anything from before 1985 (well, maybe not start 'em with "Happy Trails") but to maybe go for the gusto - just hit 'em right off with "Unchained"? But "Panama" or "Ain't Talking 'Bout Love" are good starting points as well. Then wow 'em with "In A Simple Rhyme" to show 'em the Mighty Van Halen isn't just a radio singles band.

Ethereal beauty in a VH thread?
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Don't go on Twitter today then, there is a discussion on there about how GGB is Van Halen's worst song. I kid you not.

Van Hagar had plenty of ethereal and ephemeral songs.

The answer is always Mean Street.

But if someone really didn't know about Van Halen, I would show them the Panama video. Or that dinosaur one that just resurfaced...

If you play anything but one of the hits, you'd get weird looks. You wouldn't get the appreciation from a "deep cut" as you do from most here.

Jump was my "I see the light" moment from Van Halen. From there I explored all that came before it. I'm sure it had a lot to do with me being 11 at the time. Unchained didn't catch my interest until I purchased all of Van Halen's music after buying 1984 for one song...Jump.

    Couldn’t disagree more.

It wouldn’t be a deep cut to somebody who’s never heard VH before.

Whether it’s Panama or Simple Rhyme.

The deep cuts are far more interesting sonically.
