And Dave just got awkward to watch and listen to... So if given the choice I’d have taken a few more records with Sam over the couple tours and one record we got in 20 years.
I agree with some of that. Sammy...fuck the dude can voice his ass off. Period. Dave is and will always be THE best front man for Van Halen. Always is and always was. Out.

The year off should of been in 1985
If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)

"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen

"I do like Eddie Van Halen as a player. He gets it right quite often." -Paul McCartney

Yes, they should have taken a break at some point with either singer. The burnout was too strong with both, and in the end everyone got screwed out of good tunes.

Van Halen’s success with Sammy is a little more impressive to me for two reasons. Brian Johnson’s voice is as close to BS’s as you could reasonably get. Plus they followed their same formula/sound for basically their entire career.

In contrast, because Ed’s gift was so extensive the sound and song structures are very different than with Dave. Not a criticism of AC/DC as I love that band. They just took completely different roads to achieve their success with their second singers.

I blame Eddie. Every band doesn’t need a dictator. Look at the eagles. But it also come down to management. As a manager, I can’t think of a viable scenario where I’d let the guy who wrote the theme intro to Hunter and Riptide produce a multi multi million selling band such as VH.

As a band member, I would never let a guy who's biggest sonic accomplishment was "bum bum" produce my album.

    It cuts both ways.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
