And again, the muddy indistinguishable mess of a tom sound on Poundcake and JD is especially egregious. Then the dry, blah sounding tom sound on almost all the rest of the tracks doesn't help.
And that muddiness unfortunately carried over to LRHRN.

The rest I can do without. Half killer, half filler, and as Brett said, I am not sure I have ever listened to Pleasure Dome all the way through, can't stand it.

my least favorite Van Halen album outside of VH3. For one half of it is filler. 2nd as mentioned before the drums for me are just too out there. I don't like the production. Its the opposite of the production of OU812. Its like they course corrected and went the other way. It features likely the least inspired playing by Eddie. Heck he didn't pick up a guitar for a year before it was made so that tells you how much he was playing guitar.. Lastly Eddie had two new toys. Neck pickup and a wah. When Eddie gets a new toy he goes Full Hammett While his tone had been changing for years, this was something totally different.

Has a few really great songs but there was a lot of filler on this.

I think Dreams blows TOTW out the water when it comes to Van Hagar anthems.

    TOTW is cheese, IMO

It gets lumped in with RWTD, ATBL, YRGM, Right Now for songs where if I never heard them again, Iíd be fine.

Iím a bit shocked at the lack of love for Pleasure Dome. Itís virtually a showcase for Ed, Al and Mikeís virtuosic synchronicity. Donít care for the lyrics. Could have (and probably should have) been an instrumental.

Pleasure Dome for me was a song that Sam ruined for me. That album is half good songs and half that Sam killed with his lyrics. Even Poundcake i don't like for that reason.

I always wanted them to try and somehow seamlessly go from Jump straight into Top of the World live since they share that riff. I'm not a musician, so I don't know how they'd pull that off, but maybe it would've been cool.
