Then again... I never listened to an album called FUCK for Bob Dylan/Neil Peart like transcendence.
That's because Sammy tackled serious topics on songs like Right Now, and Mine All Mine, and also wrote sentimental songs like When its Love, Not Enough, Can't Stop Lovin' You, etc. So its kind of weird when he writes a song like Good Enough where he likens women to grade A beef. And then there's Black and Blue where he sings about fucking until their both bruised black and blue. LOL. I love Black and Blue by the way. Eddie's guitar is pure sleaze in that song.

There is not an ounce of sentimentality in AC/DC songs and they don't take themselves seriously at all.

But I agree with you. I never listened to Van Halen for deep meaningful lyrics. Van Halen is about guitar, drums, guitar, and then some more guitar. Ha ha.

Not a bad list, I would bump FUCK up to the 7th slot. Stick OU812 in slot 8, 5150 in slot 9, and then the other 3 shit albums anywhere after that, as long VHIII is last. I wasn't a fan of ADKOT mostly due to Dave's shit vocals and weak tunes, and I never liked Balance or VHIII.

I never worked so hard in my life to pick up a new album on release day. I was in Navy electronic school in Orlando. I used to go to school at night time so 7pm to 7am. Got our liberty cards at about 9am or so. It was already something like 85 degrees when I picked it up. Had no car, nobody would drive me so I had to walk to the nearest mall which was probably 3 miles away. So walked in the humidity and increasing heat. Went to the record store, bought it and walked back. Now its like 90. Get back to the barracks popped it in and was like "its ok, but not worth losing 4lbs of water weight" I remember only thinking 4 or 5 songs were good. Maybe that's why it never clicked. Just had a negative impression upon first listen. First time every for me.

Plus it was the first VH album that I didn't have my buddies around to create memories.

I love the album for the way it showcases the extraordinary chops of each band member. And it features some of my favorite songs. The last 4 songs are perfection. I do wish someone had said to Sam when he appeared with lyrics to "Spanked," "Sam, the music for this song is too cool for the lyrics to be about spanking the monkey." But that's my only gripe.

Itís a classic album. Superior in quality and production. Still sounds fresh and new today.

It's a great record. Most people, at the time, including myself, dug it better than OU812. VH was rockin' again. Nobody gave a shit about the engineering, the songs were good.

Last time it was all pop songs on the radio. This time you got Poundcake, Runaround, Dream is Over, TOTW, PD, JD....didn't know any VH fans that weren't happy. I knew some fans that had abandoned ship when Sam joined. They even liked a few of the songs on this record. People that didn't like them came on board for the first time.

Great record, great tour, an MTV performance, this record cranking all summer on the radio....this was an awesome time to be a fan.

A huge album during the grunge breakout. They were still kicking ass! Everyone shoulda been proud.

Still my fave album of the Sam years. Great memories of tooling around in my '78 Firebird with that CD cranked all summer of 1991

Well, yes when you put it that way and tie in some great memories, it makes the album much better. lol

Then again, I had some great times in '88 with OU812 and '93 with RHRN and '95 with Balance.

IMO, the band milked For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge for too long before the release of Balance 3-1/2 years later in January 1995. I also think half of the songs on F.U.C.K. are pretty forgettable, at least by VH standards.
