I've seen others pick tracks such as "Circles" and "The Big Picture. It's all over the place, which I think means that there is none to very little filler on this album.

There are vocal hooks all over the album. Epiphany, Horribly Right, Mammoth, those choruses are huge and catchy, IMO.

A big difference from VH is that Ed was about guitar hooks specifically. There's great riffage in the MWVH material, but it's less about guitar based hooks.

Some stellar guitar work on that track. Just listening to it for the first time in a while. Ed’s best use of the sustainer in any song? Possibly.

One gripe I’m finding with ADKOT after all this time, is the mixing of Dave’s vocals. They’re completely dry and in your face. No reverb. No echo. Just as if he’s singing right in your ear.

Metallica did this on Death Magnetic and it’s an artistic choice, I get it. But it’s not very dynamic.

I just heard Wolf will be on National Public Radio’s “Weekend Edition” tomorrow...As “Don’t Back Down” was playing in the background...It sounded great and the intro. from the host was kind of cool...”You say that sounds like Van Halen? Wolfgang Van Halen to be precise...” Then they played a snippet of the interview...Neat that a hard rock musician is getting air time on NPR.
"People say Cream gave birth to Heavy Metal," says Baker. "If that's so, we should have had an abortion."

In my opinion, HBSD is nowhere near my favorite, but it certainly doesn't suck either. Ed's screaming guitar really jumps out of the song--it's like audio 3D. lol

Regarding Wolf, I can't wait to hear it his album. It's been tough not giving in to temptation.

After a first listen, I like a majority of the non-singles more than the singles, with the exception of Think It Over. Definitely like it more than I was expecting to, and he is obviously a crazy talented musician whether you dig the songs or not.

    It’s a very impressive debut.

It would have been a fine instrumental. It's the one track on that album that i didnt like what Dave did lyrically/vocally

Haven't been able to listen to every tune yet - I'm at the office streaming his songs on his official channel, and some of them are blocked by my office's profanity filter. LOL.

But of what I've been able to hear - I love it. Definitely his own musician, but what a talented one. Mr. Ed, Horribly Right and Circles are excellent tunes.

Can't wait for the CD to arrive in the mail so I can blast it in my car. Rock the hell on.
The song ain't dirty it's really just the way we sing it...

Agreed, been saying that about DLR's live vocals for a long time. You listen to old boots, he has some effects on it that thicken it up a bit, but he has progressively gone with a drier tone live, and he extended that to ADKOT.

I never really noticed it live, I suppose because you get a bit of verb naturally from the venue but having just listened to a few tracks off of ADKOT it’s glaringly obvious.

Speaking of Hetfield/Metallica, on their follow up album they went back to giving James’ voice a bit effect and it was amazing how much of a difference it made. More depth. More weight.

A little bit of reverb, delay or echo, or a combination of them, can do wonders for a vocal.

Love HBSD. That and MWM are the best Ed ever used the sustainer. Like Dave's lyrics on HBSD too. Really love Al's playing on it. He really drives the beat on it, great kick drum.
