I took it as an homage to Ed, not her trying to replicate what he played to her in 1979.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Exactly... just a musical expression inspired by the memories she experienced all those years ago. I think she captured a bit of Ed's essence and expressed it with her own magic. Quite personal, human and very beautiful...

Hmmm, I don't think so. Obviously, this wasn't written by Ed but the song was inspired by what she heard and she's attempting to recreate what he played her as best she can 40 years removed. "I was trying to recreate what I vaguely remember hearing that distant morning."

That's what she said, I get it, but she has parts from songs released well into the 1980's and beyond in there.

I really doubt she remembers something Ed played to her once in 1978 or 1979 so well that she can recreate it now.

I can say with great confidence that what I think I remember having heard musically from 78/79 one time in person... most likely is a fuzzy memory at best. As a musician myself... 43 years of constant musical input. Very few humans have crystal clear memories that old no matter how monumental.

I'm only 4 years younger than Nancy Wilson... I speak from experience.

She can't get the year right (understandably), I doubt she remembers the song except that it was memorable enough for her to remember how much she liked it.
