I think she was just paraphrasing, and simply saying the 80s because that was the decade that VH defined. Pretty sure it was 78 or 79 when the Wilson sisters first met the Halens.

Man I've always dug her vibe.

    Seems like a cool chick.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Actually thinking about it, I think the guitar Eddie used on Spanish Fly was Ted's. Was laying around his place and Eddie picked it up at a New Years Eve party or some other party at Ted's. He started to play it and Ted was amazed by it.

So while Eddie had played an acoustic he never owned one up until Nancy

I have a thought on what she played as well.
Granted, it was from what she remembered. But she is likely to at least remember the progression of the song. What chords, etc, were played, though the arrangement and the exact playing would not likely be remembered......

But it fits well into Van Halen's tendency to go into their back catalogue from their bar days and stuff to record new songs on albums.
If this was 78 or 79 when she met him and this happened.....

It definitely has a sound to it. I can definitely hear some old formulation for the idea of Jump in this song.

Ed said he had a much longer intro to IASR but they ditched it because they didn't want people to think they were copying Zeppelin. Maybe this was some of the music Ed played for Nancy on the acoustic she gave him. Back then, Ed had so many ideas flowing through his mind, he could've played her anything and maybe something that never even turned into anything on a VH record.

Amazing. Very cool. She's awesome. Her sister too. Love Heart.

Just imagine if they got together & did a side project collaberation. Just for fun. Even if only a short mini album like Starfleet.

    Heart Sisters & VH Brothers.

Ann Wilson- vocals with Ed & Nancy riffing back & forth, trading licks & solo's back & forth. Alex on drums. Maybe Ann could play bass or Ed overdub it in.

    Dare to dream
