Jump 1995 warmup for Bon Jovi

The first time I saw Skid Row was opening for Bon Jovi. The next day, I bought Skid Row's debut. Big Guns and Piece of Me sold me.

I enjoyed Bon Jovi when they did New Jersey, the video's were really fun.

other than that I've never had any interest in hearing them do anything with or without Sambora. I just find them boring.

it also irritates me that Runaway gets so much play on local classic rock. I NEVER heard that song on the radio in the 80's but now it's in heavy rotation on classic rock. Revisionist history.

Runaway was played quite a bit the first couple years but once they're big records come out it vanished.

I understand management wanting to get VH in front of as many people as possible. Jovi fit that requirement.

But that only matters if you are gonna keep coming back. They were never going to that. So, they shoulda just passed.

I've just never met a dude who appreciates Bon Jovi in my life and willing to admit it.

New Jersey is a great album.

The rest of their catalog I don't care for, even Slippery When Wet to me isn't that good.

I wouldn't be so sure in '95. BJ wasn't as far removed from their peak as VH was at the time. I guess it would be a matter of perspective. To you and me, I'm sure VH blew them off the stage. LOL

yeah, Dokken I don't get. I've never understood their appeal.

Dokken had a real good three album run.

Tooth and Nail, Under Lock and Key, and Back for the Attack are really good.

For me, especially Under Lock and Key. They perfected the mid-tempo rocker on it.

Saw Dokken open for Twisted Sister on the Stay Hungry tour. I believe Y&T was also an opener for that show. My dad called me and said he won tickets to the show. I must've been 12 or 13 at the time, so he took me to the show. LOL I give him credit for doing that--couldn't have been an easy night for him.

I remember going out and buying Tooth and Nail. I tried and tried, but Dokken never stuck with me.
Queensryche was another band that never landed with me. I knew so many people that loved them.

Rage For Order, Operation: Mindcrime, and Empire. Great discs. Great live band too.

Not the same band without DeGarmo.

actually, this couldn't have been 89. It was after Slave came out, must have been June of 92.

When I met Skid Row, they were opening for Aerosmith in 1990. I saw them again in '92 and Pantera opened for them.

There were numerous articles about that tour at the time in the European rock mags. According to Ed, he and Jon were friends and it was as simple as the two hatching it out on the deck of Jon's Malibu beach house one evening. Ed said he liked it because VH would be able to play to massive crowds and at the same time save money by not having to drag their huge production overseas.
