Acuna for sure factored into 2021. He was having an all-star level year and was the Braves best player through the first half of the season. Without Acuna in the first half, easily possible the Braves lose a few more games and finish just behind Philly (also no WC) at the end. That is a contribution not to be overlooked.

2015 was the turning point, they started the rebuild. Of course not everything worked, but they got on the right path, trading for and developing a new group of players. If they had just stayed with that group, they would have just been mired in mediocrity forever.

The top seeds in the NL and AL were both eliminated in the first round and the prohibitive World Series' favorite was eliminated by a team who won 18 fewer games than they did during the regular season. That's baseball ...

I say the World Series will be won in 5, I was correct in the Braves/Dodgers series going 6 games without predicting the winner. I'm not going to be fond of the team that wins in 5.

I think you are selling the Braves short.

I am not sure who mentioned it earlier (maybe Brett?), but the Dodgers tough 5 game series vs the Giants was a huge factor in them losing to the Braves. Dodgers pitchers were gassed after extended high leverage innings right though the 9th inning of Game 5 vs the Giants.

If the Dodgers played Atlanta in the 1st round (NLDS), I believe they win 3-1 (5 game series). Would have been totally different. Seeding played a big factor this year.

You might be right. We'll never know for sure. Losing Kershaw really hurt their pitching depth. Losing Muncie, then Turner and then Scherzer pretty much doomed them.

Well, outside of fudd here, we're basically all starting to fire up the stoves for the offseason talks. With the CBA expiring in a few weeks, this offseason should be very interesting.

Naturally there is already talk in the NY media speculating about Yankees' needs. SS is one of the needs. There are several FA SS's this offseason, none of whom have won a gold glove.
With Seager being a LH-hitting shortstop that makes him mighty attractive for NY. He wasn't on top of my list, but they do need more lefty hitters.
Correa--that dark cloud of a cheating scandal hangs over his head. Otherwise, he's a great player.
Baez--let him stay on the other NY team.
Story--I thought NY was going to get him at the deadline this year.
Semien--oldest of the bunch. I think he stays in Toronto, or maybe goes back out west. He may have to stay at 2B.

Like I said totally agree. The situation this year with the Dodgers chasing the Giants, not having home field, all kinds of shit really wore them out at the end of the season. I understand every team is worn out at the end, but the Dodgers expended a lot of energy to get past the Giants in the first round. It was a very difficult series and without some key pitchers and players the team was just tired. The Braves took advantage. I mean those first two games against the Braves couldíve gone either way. The Braves pulled them out in the end. If the Dodgers pull them out or at least hold onto Game 2 we may be talking about a whole different thing here. But obviously reality is reality. They didnít get it done.

It is very difficult to repeat in MLB. Injuries due to attrition are perhaps the main reason.

I will vomit if the Dodgers let the Yankees have Seager. Seager is a Dodger and should stay one. They drafted him, and he became an all-star here. He should stay here. Iím going to be very disappointed if they donít keep him. Thatís one of the key guys they need to be building around. So I suspect he will get a big payday.

Then I would go after Scherzer and try to keep Jansen if itís reasonable.

Would love to keep Kershaw but I canít imagine him taking a pay cut to stay here. That will be very sad. Heís also not the pitcher he was, so thatís a thing to take into consideration too.

This Braves team reminds of how Washington beat LA in 2019.

I saw that Washington team coming a mile away, I didn't see the Braves coming.

Atlanta has the top 3 RBI guys in the NL this year, didn't think that would matter.

Dodgers shit the bed. Mookie, Trea and Seager failed them offensively.

That stupid decision to make a reliever out of a 20 game winner is atrocious.

Dodgers could not recover from game 1 and 2 loss.

This is nightmare World Series for the MLB people. Cheaters vs a team that could not even host an all star game lol

I don't think Seager goes anywhere.

Kershaw is a big wild card, nobody really knows if he is even healthy. I could see them doing a one year deal just to keep him around and see if he bounces back. Then go from there .

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. I know we've discussed this a lot already, and I'm in the minority on this. But I didn't agree with the decisions of putting starters in relief on short rest. There is a time and a place, but I didn't think any of the times they were used were right.
