The Dodgers win 14-11. Never in doubt.

Roberts took out all the starters ... what a dumb ass
by all, you meant 3 of them?

I feel kind of bad for him. Hell, even the Angels thought the game was over (pulling Trout and Upton out). I guess Kershaw was on short rest hence the early hook (well that and the double-digit lead). Pretty amazing they were able to make it that close. When your pen is coughing up leads to the all-world bats of Jose Rojas & Taylor Ward, well you know things just aren't going as planned.

On Mothers Day in 1966 my uncle was visiting from NYC. My dad said lets all go to see the Orioles play a scheduled yes scheduled doubleheader. Two for one back in those days. There was close to 50000 others in town with the same idea. The outta town team was Cleveland Indians. I think it was the second game when a young maybe rookie that year pitcher named Luis Tiant was showing off his probably near 100 mph heater to the rest of the American League and now the Orioles. The 1966 Orioles where one of most feared teams in the history of baseball. They had it all and they had just aquired via trade the great Frank Robinson who the Cincinnati Reds said was an "Old Thirty".

Franks first at bat Tiant struck him out I think. The next at bat was historical in Baltimore sports lure. Frank hits a screaming and rising 100mph fastball an estimated 540 feet over the bleachers and into the parking lot totally fair. There is no video or film that I know of just a still photo with him at the plate and a super imposed dotting line of the balls trajectory. This superhuman feat was done without steroids and HGH. I'm pretty sure Frank never even weight trained. Just a swing from heaven.

Moral- Never show up Frank Robinson at the plate or anywhere else. Rip Mom and all the other mothers no longer with us and of course Frank.

Great story. Love that stuff. Was that Memorial Stadium? Not sure I'm remembering that old stadium correctly.

It's funny you mention Frank's majestic HR, I remember seeing a picture with a drawn-in trajectory of a Mickey Mantle home run that hit the upper deck façade (where no home runs ever went) at the old Yankee Stadium...when there was a façade. Of course there was no film of it. It was estimated at over 500 feet as well.

Must've been awesome to see Frank play. What a legend.

Yes it was at Memorial Stadium a true dump and great place to me and my family. I also saw Mantle hit the centerfield lights at Memorial which if not there would have been in the parking lot.

One run (and another loss) today for the Dodgers a day after scoring 14.

The Cardinals will score like that and then can't score the next couple games.

Well the Dodgers aren’t the Cardinals. So it’s inexcusable what’s going on.

They're 2-1/2 games out of first place with 127 games remaining. They might still have a chance ...

There is no reason a team with that level of talent should go through a stretch of 4 and 14. That isn't on the manager, players need to step it up.
