Yeah I am glad the Braves left the division for most of their big run. That would’ve sucked every year.

I hated the same teams you did as well. Of course still the Giants in there too, but they were so bad in the 80s for the most part that they were pretty irrelevant.

I miss the two division leagues.

The season was 162 game playoff.

The grind was fantastic for only two teams to play at the end NLCS.

Reds got really annoying in 1990. Reds got screwed in 81 ....haha...
I still have nightmares about 1982. The Dodgers beat the Braves 8 straight times between 7/30 and 8/8 and came from a double digit games deficit in the standings to take over first place for a good portion of the remainder of the season. They faded late and ultimately lost the NL West by a single game to Atlanta thanks to Joe Morgan's walk off HR on the last day of the season up in San Francisco.

Yeah, Giants sucked pretty hard from 1979 to 1986, their Ownership and Front Office completely failed the team. They had 1 little good run in 82, but not enough to get past LA. It was a lot more fun watching the Giants in 87 and 89 when they were relevant at least.

Padres usually sucked also, but they did have that little run in 84.

The year a team with 67 home runs wins the World Series.

Watching the Cards this season has been pretty rough.

I was pretty young in 82, but Giants sucked so bad in the early 80s, that was like the only highlight for almost 10 years...haha... Morgan sending the Dodger home at the end of 82. Pretty sad franchise at the time, when that is your only highlight...haha... They still bring it up 5 or 10 times a year on Giants TV broadcasts (but mostly because the PxP guy Duane Kuiper, was on that 82 team)...

I just turned 10 before the end of the season. Must be some link to hearing Celebration at Cards games, on tv and on radio so many times as to why I like Best of Both Worlds so much.

1982 was also the year the California Angels became the first team to blow a 2-0 lead in an LCS, when they lost the next 3 games to the Brewers.

I loved that. Yanks had just won 114 games 3 years prior, only for the Mariners to best that. Yanks eliminating them from the playoffs was nice and it was owed after Seattle bounced them in '95.

I loved the bottom of the 9th of game 7 of the 2001 World Series.

It was just the way you said they'd "burn" Scherzer in game 163 and "burn" Buehler in the wildcard game, as if they didn't have anyone good behind those guys.

Haha...I had a feeling this would come up. It would have bothered me so much more if not for 4 of the previous 5 years.

Still sucked. Classic World Series, though.

That Brewers team was loaded offensively. Bunch of guys all having career years at the same time. One of my friends growing up, that was his favorite team.

There is really only one player who can dominate a baseball game, and that is the pitcher. A great hitter can be neutralized by pitching around him. The Dodgers have been contenders every season since 2013 because of their consistently strong starting pitching.
