Default Hey; I know this guy!!!

Allen, dude youíve lived a lot of freaking places! Yeah I think she just grabbed onto the California thing and the fact that you lived close to the hospital where Ed died. Thatís probably why she used that.

Probably so...Iím hoping sheíll correct it since it is an online article. I will say, living in Santa Monica at the time I lived there was rather interesting. Eddie recorded the solo to ďBeat ItĒ in Westlake Studios which was 8 miles from my house and the whole US Festival/1984 recording happened while I was there. I was 11 years old and there was no Internet of course, but quite a bit of stuff was going on right around me! Caleb from Nerd Halen grew up in Pacific Palisades so heís quite familiar with all this stuff. I was just trying to get through 6th grade...I had 4 schools in two states for 6th grade!

Thanks very much man, I really do appreciate that very much and Iíll say my friends who helped me made it possible. I would be seriously lost without them.

Iím working on ďIím The OneĒ now...as I mentioned before, I corrected some of the transcription that appears in the same magazine, but I ran out of time. Iím still going to do it in the same way I did ďEruptionĒ with all the details and evidence of my mental illness in that transcription as well! 🤣

I spent so much time trying to play the rhythm part of ďIím the OneĒ and when I go to compare what work Iíve put in to the speed heís playing on the album it ALWAYS feels hopeless.

You can do it! A great way to get the speed without losing the swing groove is to play along with the track while using the Playback Speed controls on YouTube. First start at 50%...keep playing along at that speed until you are really at home with it. Then move to 75% speed...do likewise for as long as it takes until you KNOW you have the groove at that speed comfortably. Practice with that speed until you absolutely know you are playing right on top of the recording comfortably and you are not losing the groove. Only then should you play along with the track at regular speed. You can do it!

I hope to get my full corrected transcription to ďIím The OneĒ finished soon. It shouldnít take me 7 years as ĎEruptionĒ did!

Dude to me thatís the hardest Van Halen song to play correctly. That swing is so difficult to nail. People who can master that song impress me far more than someone who can play Eruption.

I struggle with that song still, which is why Iíve never recorded a cover of it. That groove is a bitch. Iím actually going to dedicate the next couple months to it. Iíve just got to get through a couple things Iíve been trying to finish first.

As Allan mentioned, starting slow is the key.

Also, try treading/swinging on those open A string notes without worrying about hitting the notes on the D string, in the intro. Just do that consistently and once you're comfortable playing those treading notes in time with the desired "swing" feel, incorporate the other up stroked notes in between the open notes.

Everybody has always wracked their brains over I'm The One, and it definitely threw me for a loop early on but I found the intro the Hang Em High to be infinitely more difficult, when it came to nailing the timing. Its basically a reverse-tongue twist of the I'm the One intro. Maybe it's just me?

Either way both these intros simply cannot be learned at full speed unless you're a mutant, so never be discouraged. Take it slow until you have the feel down because speed doesn't mean anything without feel.

Thank you very much guys for responding to my plight. I feel like I have the shit down at a slow speed, but album level is so fucking insane.
