I think Alex was still in poor health himself in 2004. It was simply a bad time for VH to hit the road, for a multitude of reasons.

Between 1997-2008 I saw the Punks 7 or 8 times so I yeah a couple of those shows was with Brian. That was the best lineup they ever had.

Wish I had gotten to see them.

The East Coast VH tribute bands are pretty bad.

The Punks used to come up to the NW at least a couple times a year. As I've said before, Joe Lester the bassist, is originally from up here. I got to see them play in a bar a couple times, a casino a couple times, and even my hometown fair once. That was the last time I saw them, but they had the new singer by then.

To be fair to Sam, it's hard to know what to sing when your guitarist is playing a different song than everyone else, might as well interact with the crowd some and take their attention away from the guy playing Wipeout during Poundcake.

You know I think of the 2004 tour and Samís behavior this way. Once when we lost the drummer in our band and we had some guys come in to jam with us. We had one guy come in who talked a big game about how he played in a ton of bands and was even in a signed band at one point, so we we thought great. He came in with very low end drum kit (should have been a red flag in of itself), and literally was the worst drummer Iíve ever heard, to the point that he couldnít even keep a simple 4/4 beat. He couldnít even hit the hi hat in time with the bass and snare he was that awful. Obviously everything he told us was a complete and utter lie. Anyway the point of this story is he was so bad that the singer and I looked at each other and laughed and just started strumming our guitars without fretting anything, just making noise because the whole thing was just a joke. I kind of think thatís how Sam felt with Ed literally playing nothing that resembled music or the right song. Sam made the best of it by just fucking around with the audience because what the hell else can you do. Ed was on another planet. The whole thing was just a gigantic train wreck and someone shouldíve just pulled the plug at some point even though obviously it wouldíve looked bad. Playing the shows the way they did looked worse.

In 04, Sam (and Mike) made a lot of fans go home with great memories of interacting with the lead singer and bass player of VH. Autographs, pictures, souvenirs etc.

Mementos people will have forever. Iíd never fault him for that.

I think the stage they had was the most intimate they ever took on tour. I was 15 and I remember being in the front row and the stage felt like it was chest-level.

VH should not have toured in 2004. Plain and simple.

Hilarious to go back how many years to find that post. Please highlight were it says it will apply to anything I ever comment or say years into the future.

And yes Iíve read his site for god knows how many years. The ďbulliesĒ here are in there own little sowing circle click.

But I guess itís cool right... every thread we should just say hey what Sammy wears is an embarrassment. Seems plausible. That certainly wouldnít be dumb as hell.
