Nice! This would’ve been a hometown show for me...if I’d been born a lot earlier than 9 years after the show.

Nice! I'll listen to this tonight. Hope the quality is as amazing as the Tucson and San Diego soundboard that surfaced a couple years back.

Wow. That was awesome! Great quality!! Thanks, James.

    Couple things:
In that "Gypsy Woman Story" did I hear a little bit of the intro to Fools?
    Great version of FYLT.
Absolutely love the breakdown and jam in YRGM.
Al was a maniac on those early tours. Wow.

This soundboard recording sounds really good. So often some of these older soundboard recordings that surface can sound kind of dull, but with this one the upper-mids come through really good and Ed's guitar cuts through extremely well as a result of it.

Yep they did that bluesy Fools intro most nights of the tour.

Probably the greatest versions of FYLT and YRGM were done on this tour.

And Al...yep. This was Animal Al. Anytime some ignorant fool says a lot of Al's drums were just for show and he never played them, I tell people to listen to bootlegs from the first 5 tours. He was nonstop flying all over those monster kits. Especially loved the sound of those Vistalite Octobans on this tour. Its too bad that so many people's initial visual experience of Al playing live was LWAN, where the Octobans were just there to fill out the small Simmons pads kit, and his playing just wasn't up to the endless energy he had on the earlier tours. If more people actually listened to him or could see him on these early tours, he would be more respected IMO.

Oh yeah, I've posted that one on here before. I would say this is the best solo by Al actually on film. Here, watch Garey Williams, a terrific jazz drummer and teacher up here, analyze this solo. His reactions are genuine and great:

Any backstory on how these 1978 and 1979 soundboards finally got out the last few years? Obviously, it's coming from one source who was connected to those tours but not anything post-1979. It's a shame nothing (so far) of similar quality has come out from the 1980 and '81 tours (the 1980 Largo show is incomplete and comes from a mediocre video feed).

Mad Hatter is part of BTB. Fletch. They have put out many dvds and cds over the years. Now Vinyl. Huge connections with great sources. To many to even list.
